How do I ship GT2 seats cross country

I'm selling my GT2 seats and wondering how I would ship them to an out of town buyer.
Anybody done this?

Thanks much.

I have bought two sets 6GT3 Euro seats, and sold one.

HomeDepot wardrobe boxes. Rails off, wrapped and packed separately.

Two seats go in one box. It only fits one way so its easy to figure out. Lots of foam, bubble wrapping and tape. Used a furniture blanket between seats. Then applied the foam, then bubble wrap then tape.

No issues. Shipped one FedEx and one Greyhound.

Neither time had any issues.

Those seats look awesome! I'd LOVE to buy them, but my wife would murder me, to death, 'til I stopped breathing, and was room temp.

GLWS!

Call a crating company and have two crates made for $200, the seats should bolted down and protected. Do not skimp and use a $20 box for $8k seats, ship freight.

I didn't know there was a such thing as a crating company.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll meet you in Madison for a beer and you can take the seats from there.
She might eventually forgive you.

Fedex with proper insurance.

Good luck with a minimum wage kid crating your 8k seats for 200.00.

Lots of good shippers will handle and crate but with shipping cross country no way close to 200.00.

But, good point. My 6GT3 Euro seats were only 3,500.00. For 8K seats these need special care and handling.

Great link.

That is how I did it once on the selling side. Also, how I received a pair a few years ago.

I liked doing the packing myself knowing it was done with care and correctly.

Good luck.

It's a pain in the ass - i used box and ship to pack ... that was 150, then 88 p wheel to ship. Worth the $ to not pack myself but certainly a lesson learned.

I have equipment professionally crated pretty often for shipment, I have never seen a kid. I'm pretty familiar with pricing. Crating is not a super skilled trade so of course its min wage but does not mean lack of pride in workmanship.

Here is a recent example. I hired a company called Craters & Freighters (nationwide) they went to this persons house where I purchased GT2 buckets, wrapped them put them on there truck went back to there facility and crated them and shipped them from MD to CA for $800. The owner of the seats did not have to lift a finger. However, its your prerogative.

this. period.

I just recently purchased a pair off a member here and this was the way they were supposed to be shipped.

instead these so called "wardrobe" boxes were used. the seats arrived and the boxes were toast. thank god some how the seats were okay.

don't trust fed ex or ups insurance too on a $8K item.

have them crated and bolted down. not worth the headache otherwise.

I had the factory crates for these seats and tried giving them away for free for 2 months and had no takers. Funny how this always works out.

Wish I had kept mine. I'm sure my wife is glad that I didn't. :)
