997.2 GT3 Project: Vinyl removal, extensive paint correction and full custom PPF wrap

This 997.2 GT3 has been truly enjoyed by the owner! But extensive mountain runs and only a white vinyl color wrap with minimal PPF on some of the rockers and rear hips left her in pretty rough shape. What wasn't pictured was all of the rash the paint already had. But being a 997.2 GT3, he rightly wanted to protect it moving forward....man, it's hard seeing pitting and rash under PPF but I suppose this is the lesser of the evils...

We were tasked with safely removing all of the color change vinyl, correcting the paint and then protecting the original black paint with our advanced paint protection film wrap. (we were not the company that wrapped the car in vinyl)

Paint correction was north of 30 hours, though I do not recall the exact figure.

We were wildly understaffed during the clear bra wrap portion so there aren't any pictures of that installation. Sorry about that but I hope you enjoy what we were able to capture with photographs. :)

After paint correction -impact marks are going to stay...nothing practical can be done about those without a repaint which the private owner wanted to avoid.

Nice work.

Why in the name of X?X?X? (who or whatever you believe in) wrap a black GT3 in white!!!???

MUCH better in its natural skin!

RossP 07-09-2019 09:14 AM

Looks way better. Putting that awful white wrap on that beautiful black paint is like putting cheap carpet over oak hardwood floors.

JS 07-09-2019 10:05 AM

White paint > Black paint.

Different folks, different strokes! But sometimes folks just want to mix things up for a little while. That's the great thing about wraps...get tired of it and you can change it.

it looks very good - great job!

can anyone tell me what the yellow film over the headlights / side markers is all about? is it street legal???

SF944 10-06-2022 11:53 PM

Thank you all!

We’ll noted that the BBS might not be the move. I have the stock wheels as well.

Also I’ve heard excellent things about Dundon. A bit pricy though 😆

in CA it is not legal (doesn't stop people from doing it), I'd make the assumption that it is not legal anywhere in the US and doesn't not conform to DOT standards
