Default Starter clicking sound when hot.

Did some search here .....and probably my starter motor needs to be changed :-(

Does any one here have recommendations where to buy?
Is there a DIY on the forum here? Did search for it ...but only find a DIY for the non GT3 engines

This should help, read post #8 regarding a good source for a new Bosch starter. There may be other sources like Rock Auto that might be worth checking out, just make sure it is the correct part #. The one that Porsche sells is WAY more expensive but it the exact same Bosch starter with the same part #.

The Bosch part # is 996-604-107-02-M14

Here is the current Pelican Parts page with the 2007 GT3.1 starters. If you have a different model, you can re-enter what you have. BTW, the 997 GT3 starters are located underneath the car near the right inner CV joint, like an air-cooled 911.

I have a thread on this with some pics-I ended up just cleaning and making sure the contacts were tightened down nice and snug. Don't buy a starter if you don't need it-

Thanks for the reply's

Maybe also important to mention that the car is a 997.1 gt3 rs from 2008

@JB911; Can you tell me which contacts I need to check? Pictures?
Did this fix the clicking/non start?...My guess was the solenoid on the starter is giving up...

This is the thread-I cleaned all contacts, removed all starter cables and re tightened. Seemed like the nuts weren't so tight from factory. Hasn't clicked since
