Cage info needed 2011 7.2 RS
Gent's,
Still contemplating installing a cage in the RS. My last car had one and I think the cars just seem better with them in. The car will see very light track use. Important that whatever cage I install it's appropriate for the car if I should sell:
-Is it impossible to acquire a Clubsport cage? And get it painted?
-Is there a Clubsport copy that you suggest?
-Does manufacture even matter?
-How much quality difference is there between the top cages?
I know these are pretty general questions but opinions are welcome. Cage will be painted Gaurds Red. Thanks in advance-

Don't think it's possible?? to get an OEM clubsport cage in the US. If you did manage it, I would imagine it would be $$$$ and not worth the premium over the aftermarket ones offered in the US. BBi and GMG probably offer the best/most popular aftermarket options.

Do you want the complete (front & rear) roll cage or just the rear section? I presume if it's the complete cage you're going to want to have the two side bars as used in the .2 RS or are you ok with the one side bar of the .1 RS?
Cheers,

Hey MJSpeed, I didn't make myself clear. I used the term roll cage too loosely. I am only interested in the rear section. No side bars. I guess technically it's still a harness bar. My last car had a custom built half cage/harness bar in it from S Car Go in CA. It had a cool section where the middle bar went back at an angle towards the back of the car for a little more access and you could unbolt it and remove it completely with a hex key. I guess I probably need a tutorial on what FAB's I need..

I have a Gen1 one bar like new in orange, and a Gen2 two bar new in black. Both sitting in my personal stock.
You would want to keep it period correct so go with the gen2 two bar.

BBI makes a nice 2 piece bar that is super easy to install. Mounts to shock towers and seat belt attachment. Allows full rearward movement of seats. I just installed one myself and I am happy with it. I see they reduced the price of them from when I bought it a month ago.

I'd go with the OEM IVM Clubsport bar and you have the option to add the front at the same time or later. Rear bolts to rear shock towers and weld in plates in the floor. At a little over 40 lbs it's one of the lighter bars on the market and won't devalue the car since it's OEM..
