Yes, it has spent the past several years in Ontario, Canada. It is originally a US car from Colorado.

What are the additional cost for you to import if you don't mind me asking? Is it cheaper because it was originally a US car to begin with and coming back to the US?

It's a 2% duty that I have to pay for re-entry. It's cheaper because it has 40k miles, standard seats, and iron brakes.

Sorry, I meant import cost being cheaper? Meaning, if it was originally a Canadian car, would it be more expensive to import vs a previous US car?

I am not sure if it would be as easy, but I wouldn't buy a Canadian car personally. I own a Canadian spec Lexus IS-F and there are some nuances about it that I don't care for overall (gauges and temperature units aren't all adjustable). I bought my IS-F from California but the original owner bought it in Canada and imported it immediately.

I used TFX Intl to import a Camaro. Simple process, they do everything at the border for you.

They were great and know the process inside/out. When the car got delivered, they gave me all the importation paperwork that I needed to register the car in CT (7501 Customs form, EPA and DOT forms). There is about an hours worth of paperwork to fill out before the car is shipped, but it was pretty simple.

I was under the impression that importing a Canadian car to USA is 2.5%. If you you are importing a USA car located in Canada, you not have to pay duty. At least that's what I have read a number of times.

That would be unexpectedly very good news. I will read up as I have not heard that before, but I can see how these things would get confused too.

Seems to me I will have to pay 2.5%

OK guys, the transaction is moving along well enough and I'm happy with the seller and the particular deal I'm getting. He even found me a fair price on GT2 carbon buckets located near me that I'm getting as a favor to him (owed by someone else), and I think that is a pretty stand up move as he didn't have to do that at all. I will get to inspect them physically and hand over cash in person too.

I got the DME scan results today and they are a bit puzzling:

Range 1: 3212
Range 2: 919
Range 3: 0
Range 4: 0
Range 5: 0

I didn't expect ANY GT2 to come back this 'clean' so it does make me think it was reset at some point, particularly when you consider this car has 39k miles on it. Can anyone tell me or show me what a more normal scan on a 997 GT2 might look like? How would one even reset this DME counter, meaning what method needs to be done to even do it?

I am getting an independent PPI on the car done, and I'll bring these concerns up. I know that the DME scan is just a tool to examine history and not an indication of 'healthy versus broken' so I'm not really so much concerned that the engine is hurt, but more curious about what another 997 GT2 DME scan even looks like as I've been given reason to think that even aggressive driving and bouncing off the rev limited in the first couple gears can go into Range 3. Thanks all!

Do you know the total operating hours? That will help in backing to whether the numbers you posted are reasonable and determine if a reset potentially happened.

That data is not visible on the screen shot they sent me of the DME scan, but I'll have the shop doing an independent PPI run it again and show me the total operating hours. Thanks!
