Default CBA Porsche 9 Amelia Island Auction Preview

We are at it again and have just posted our blog for Amelia.

Should be a lot more interesting than Scottsdale.

Here is the link:

Great write ups! I enjoy them. Well informed and nice to see someone else play the other side of the auction "estimate" nonsense.

This is always my favorite part of the PORS9 write-ups, that and the subtle snark at the whole thing as well!

The notes on the 991.2 GT2s are especially good:

Yes turned out to be one of good deals. All-in only $20k over MSRP which is quite a bit less than where prices were three years ago.

Yeah, nice buy by someone. Seems like there were a few decent buys at Amelia this year; that and market just a lot less frothy across the board. Seems like a lot of cars corrected significantly a few years ago and 911s hung in there almost irrationally. I guess they had a bit of a delayed reaction. I'm proud to say I may have printed the all time highs (MAYBE a couple of clicks off it) when I finally relented and bought my 997 frog a few years ago. I 110% knew it was a bad economic decision but i had chased that particular car for years and finally paid up for one just cause I wanted the car more than the cash. And when the 991.2 RS was launched in LG along with Porsche offering a bright standard palette and a plethora of GT PTS, the insane jelly bean scarcity premium was bound to melt some. I hope things keep melting. I have a couple spots in the lineup I'd fill or upgrade if prices keep getting a little more "sane". But it's really crazy to step back and see where prices still are compared to when I entered this game initially.

If anybody is interested Spike's Car Radio podcast did a live auction show and talked about quite a few of the auctions as they crossed the stage. I think it released today, or at least I listened to it this morning.

As pretty as a froggy is at 100% premium to a different colored car seems pretty crazy. The halloween edition cars (orange and black) trade at a massive discount still. And don't forget these rs are quite similar in drive to the standard 997.1 gt3.

Regardless, Porsche stuck it to the specs with the 991 cars and the 997 remain the prettiest of the bunch.

I have yet to drive a 991 rs car because a) I don't care b) they are auto c) I don't care and d) they are auto

^^^^fair enough!

I'm not keeping any 991's but as big of a 997 fan as i am, you are selling yourself short as a Porsche enthusiast to not at least try one. Imo. While not keepers, they are PLENTY fun cars behind the wheel, pdk and all.
