Default Thoughts on 991RS with replacement motor

Gent's

I realize this post belongs to the 991RS forum but to be honest in general I know more of you on this forum and I have a tendency to trust 997 guys when it comes to actual mechanical questions than 991 guys (unless it was cxx options) I have some interest in a used 991.1RS that had one of the early scored lifter issues at 5K for miles. Porsche didn't hesitate to drop a replacement motor in it 2 weeks later. Here are my questions:

-I assume it gets no extra warranty through Porsche, although the car has one year left and also has a 4/48 Zurich to go with it
-Is this the DLC coating issue?
-Serial number? does this become a non matching situation now?
-Lastly, how big of an issue is this at resale time? Too much story?

I'm curious to all these for future knowledge as well. Thanks in advance..

Mj

I wouldn't worry if Porsche did a replacement with a new engine and you had documentation to support it

I agree but it also depends on the next buyer. Unless you are dealing with the uber-OCD "collector"- type buyer when resale time comes, I doubt that a brand new Porsche dealer-installed engine would be a major detriment, especially since it has fewer miles than the faulty original engine. Others will disagree but a factory warranty-replaced engine would not bother me in the least. Just don't try to sell it on Rennlist

It doesn’t bother me at all either. And the car will not be a collector but a driver, that said, we all know the no extra stories game. I’m more curious to the specifics I listed.

Drive it like you stole it!

Reality is; this question's answer is entirely contingent on the next buyer, which currently is an impossibility to ascertain. If goes to someone who will enjoy and utilize it as intended, I wouldn't worry about it. And yeah, don't try to sell it on Rennlist.

Remember this isn't an investment, 401K, or college fund alternative. It's just a car, especially one as mass produced as this one.

If you're really looking for an investment grade car, let me know I know of a 2011 GT3RS 4.0 for sale at a relatively great price.

That’s funny. Clearly you guys have no sympathy for a guy who can only be a one GT car owner who has multiple cars on his list to try before it’s time to take dirt nap..

There is a saying: “when you are explaining you are losing...”

and you you will be doing lots of explaining to the buyer why the motor was swapped in the 991RS, and even worse, you will be explaining to yourself why the heck did I sell that amazing 997 Blue GT3RS/MT/Last of the Mezger/with race pedigree for this terd with a swapped motor....
