Default Where is the amp??

My .1 RS has the CDR24 stereo, no PCM, no bose, and no CD changer.

I think it has the sound package plus given where the speakers are... but cannot find the amp. Per the below, I thought there should be a small face mounted amp in the trunk. What am I missing?

Ah gotcha.. yet another listen to the engine/exhaust note line

Each to their own.. for me I get ample engine/exhaust on track all day, I dont need it for an additional 5hrs to and from the track at freeway cruising speeds

Try checking under the passenger side seat. I had the same issue making heads/tails of the various sound package configurations.

Since the car doesn’t have the pcm and the information states the “optional” sound package plus has the 9 speakers and the cdr has the ability to power 4x25 watt speakers, maybe you only have 4 speakers running and no amp.

Thanks for the ideas..

It’s not under the passenger seat (have after-market seat mounts/buckets).

I was pretty sure the speakers are all being powered, but now you mention it it’s possible it’s just 2 of the 4 door speakers and 2 of the 3 dash speakers are powered (creating the illusion that it’s the full spectrum). I will check that more carefully tonight and report back.

sixtyfiver great call.. that’s exactly it. 9 speakers (or at least grills) and only 4 speakers being powered directly by the head unit.

The other discovery that may help other ppl is that the headunit has the orange fiber optic wires connected, but they aren’t needed. It seems the head until install/wiring loom was setup the same regardless of Bose, CD Changer, MOST loop.
