Default Pacific coast roadtrip in 997.2 RS.

Ive had my 997.2 GT3 for years and loved that car. Honestly didn't have any plans to part ways with it, as I have had so many memories with that car. Then out of nowhere I see a listed 997.2 RS that had every modification I would do to the car. Add to the temptation, the car was located in Seattle, WA and it has always been my dream to do the Pacific coast drive in a GT3. So being irrational, irresponsible and Greek, I pull the trigger and purchase the car with no itinerary for the trip. Loosely planned hikes and roads based around the the major cities I would visit along the way down. (I hate itineraries for the record!) It was probably one of the more memorable trips I have ever done. Got to visit Boostedt0y in San Francisco and see his beautiful 964 and do some drives around Norcal. I hate all of you that live on the West coast and have access to those drives everyday. Immensely jealous.

So to recap, the road trip consisted of Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Napa, Carmel/Monterrey, Santa Monica and finally shipped the car out of LA. Cant say enough things about how nice Will the owner was with helping me arrange pickup.

Seattle: Before I headed out, I needed the blessing of the Fremont Troll.

Official start to the road trip leaving Seattle

Stopped off at a creek outside of Seattle

Multnomah Falls outside of Portland

Japanese Gardens of Oregon.

Samuel Boardman State Park in Oregon.

Almost near the coast in Oregon.

Passing 3 slow cars at once wasn't the best idea. I made this officers year.

Last view of the Oregon coast before entering California.

Officially entering Redwood forest in Northern California. They really love Paul Bunyan here.

I had to get this photo. All of you would have done it too. Don't judge me.

Driving through the Avenue of the Giants Redwood forest.

Finally got to San Francisco. I cant feel by back.

View of Boostedt0y's 964. Its absolutely perfect.

I loved San Francisco. And the food here. I would be 300 lbs if I lived here.

Finally hit the California coast. I was speechless. Just surreal.

Glass Beach in Fort Bragg

Driving through Big Sur on the way to LA.

First time ever trying In & Out. Got the 3x3. I was not emotionally prepared for that burger.

All good things come to an end. Huge thanks to Chequered Flag who took care of getting the car shipped back to FL. Im not crying you're crying....

You had a great trip! Your CA pix show why we locals put up with living here! There are many GT3 owners locally and too bad you were not able to meet up with more, including Mooty, the ultimate foodie, carb consumer, biking enthusiast, and local Porsche authority on what's best for the rest of us......

You lucky bastard! I was in talks with the owner about buying the car, but unfortunately there's no cheap way to import a car to Canada. But I agree, this was a very well-sorted (and well-priced) example. Epic trip; congrats!

What's happening with the GT3?

I messaged him way last second and so we didnt get a chance to meet up. This wont be my last time though thats for sure. Would like to send the 964 there in the Spring or something and do some of the same drives. Will give me a chance to meet more of you guys. Hell, I communicated more with members from rennlist than I have most of my friends.

Ha! Thats too funny. Where in Canada? I love going to Montreal as much as I can (I have a problem with saying no to poutine) Appreciate the words man!

I am placing the GT3 for sale in the next few days. Just want to get her cleaned up beforehand.

Have done same trip and I am glad to see that I am not alone in making impulsive purchase decisions and road trips. Showing this thread to wifey as proof.

Congrats - great looking car. If you’re in Vancouver let us Canuckle-heads know. I think we are super car capital of world now.

Very cool. Hilarious to see the Barrier plate frame, I think all of us in Seattle miss the days when Porsche/Audi/Volvo/Merc on the Eastside was still run by them.
