Gas gauge reads empty after jump start.
battery tender got unplugged and drained the battery. After the jump, the as age read empty. Thinking it might not have and fuel in it, I head to my local Shell where I proceeded to fill the tank. It overflowed at $24 so I assumed it was full. Get back in the car, gauge is still reading empty.
I've been searching but have yet to find a definite answer to my issue.
Any input is appreciated.
TIA

I had the same issue the last Wednesday. Low on gas so I stopped at Chevron to filled her up. Started the car and got on the highway before noticing the gas gauge indicates it was low, with warning light. Next day, started her up and all is fine. Not sure what happened.

Must be a memory issue as my battery in one of my GT4s crapped out last winter and took out the tender too. Without a battery for a month or more over the winter. Took a week or more for it to come back.

Thanks guys. I'll pray for the gauge to work the next time the car comes out of the garage.

its your tank flouter. Its not moving. Usually happens when you let it go too low for a long time. Just remember when was the last time you fill gas and it will revert again. But fill her up full to move the floater.

This happens to me from time to time if I'm low on gas and only throw $20 in the tank. Needle still registers low with the light on. Add more gas and eventually it will catch.

I’m having the same issue when I parked the 996 it was full of fuel a month later the battery was almost dead but it managed to start and now is reading emptying charged the battery back up and I took it to the Shell station and I tried to put fuel in it and it over flowed I tried again and it did it again, so I drove it to work 30miles and back went to put more fuel just in case and it did the same thing again after a couple of dollars of fuel, drove the car home and it died on me walked got some gas started again and made it home but I noticed it was making a hissing sound like sucking air into the gas tank.

Agree, had this happen before, filled up only a bit to save weight for an event and it didn't read correctly. Try filling it all the way up.

50% of the gas tank level on our cars comes from an actual level sensor in tank.. the remaining (bottom) 50% is calculated based on your driving style. So..when the memory gets erased your car is confused about what the level is because the physical level sender is reading 0. Just fill up the car and it will all be over soon.

Explains some things I've noticed when I autocross with a low tank.
