It is really hard to dispute the goodness of the 997GT cars.
I would say 4 years ago you could pick them up at MSRP as I did and I am keeping it. I see them running around $450k now but tough to move them. I think that the 4.0 moves faster.

unless u are a speculator don't let the production number detract you from the CAR.
how many are made has nothing to do with how good the car is.
987 Spyder is fairly common but it's one of THE best p car ever made..
997GT3/RS are really something unique. they can make 1MM of them and I would still love them.
enjoy yours.

Before I bought my GT3 I drove a turbo back to back to ensure I was making the right choice for me. They’re night and day and you’ll soon decide if it’s for you. For me at least Porsche’s GT cars represent the ultimate driving machine (sorry BMW) and, as well as being fortunate to own one, it’s a real pleasure to own and drive.

Definitely drive the 997GT3 and even the RS. You will be very pleased. I’m not gonna say what is the best as they are all great, but the GT3RS is great and I bought mine because of Mr. Mooty.

edit: saw the one at Stevens Creek last week. price seemed high given the miles, but then again, it's at Stevens Creek....

Thanks for posting those,.. definitely worth watching again.
I have not been following 997 GT3 prices for very long (about a year). Seems right now most regular Gen2 GT3's are running about $20k below MSRP,... Do those non RS' run in a similar patter where you believe they are "back" to levels from 3 years ago (Thread Title) ?? .. similar to the comments above on RS variants....
Am I to infer then, that they were actually "lower" than that 4+ years ago? Curiosity on the past pricing curves over the years. I know mileage, condition & spec have a lot to do with it,.. but things could be normalized to some degree.
2010's are now 8-9 yrs old, and I didn't think they had dropped to $25k or even $30k below when they were only 4 yrs old (thought it was the opposite actually). Thus the title of this thread, and its discussion has me a bit confused.
So I guess I need a bit of an education. I'm thinking that RS used pricing curves are probably vastly different than the regular GT3.
Does anyone have insight into MK1 and Mk2 curves for regular GT3's over the past 8 - 12 yrs?
TIA,
=Steve

You can run a search on BAT to get a feel for current pricing. Those results will show actual *sales* (or final bids if RNM); other sites will only give you asking prices, which are often wildly inflated.
From what I've seen, the market for 997 GT3s in both RS and poverty spec has softened considerably this year, and prices are still going down.

I have been a turbo owner since 1993 and have owned all of them, and still own a couple of the good ones.
