Thanks! I missed my chance on getting a white CR a couple years ago before they really started to go for top dollar. I kick myself all the time for it. I'd easily be able to sell that car for $10k+ what I would have paid.

I cant believe I haven't seen it mentioned here, but an e36 m3 would be a good one too. light and some what quick, you'd have a ton of money left over to make it what you want too. I'll be selling mine soon and its basically a completely new car with top notch parts for the track etc. all under $15k car included.
Outside of that my vote would be an e46 m3, for prices they're going for you cant beat it for what you're looking to accomplish.

i had one for over a decade until 2012 and had over 50+ track days with it all over ca it was fun and cheap and bulletproof with the right mods i did

I will thro in a vote for a used GT350...have had M3's, RS4, Golf R, etc. The GT350 is my DD...love the car, all the right sounds, great street performance, depreciation probably higher than others but if you can get a good used deal would be way worth it. Cheap to maintain (I do all my own work) and decent on gas if you are not too crazy with the loud pedal (like 22mpg on highway). Only downside is that the interior is a bit cheap and overall quality not great (like saggy rear bumper). GLWS!

I’ve decided to sell my gt3. Fortunately, I will have visitation rights, since i’m selling it to a cousin.
I am keeping my 11 e90 m3 and will utilize it as a part time daily driver and fun car. I drive about 70 miles a day so adding a more fuel efficient daily is my next purchase.
I checked out the 987.2 boxster s and caymans and think their great! But I think something cheaper overall would be a better move for me from a cost to maintain standpoint. Are 09-10 CS’ cheap to run or similar to my gt3? The thought about being Porscheless is a bummer, but that’s life.
I recently drove a 2007 s2000 and thought it was fun and raw. However, I had to drive it at 6k and above to get it to move quickly. Not sure if that would get old daily. I am looking for an ND Miata club w/ brembos and recaros to test drive as well. Is a BRZ worth looking into as well?

all the japanese cars you mentioned are great overall. new 19 miata is the best modern na stick sports car money can buy almost at any price. brz ts is great i hear as well and any s2000 is pretty legendary

E36 M3 is great and while I spent a fair amount to keep it streetable and trackable, it still has the most fun per dollar quotient of all the cars I had. I recently bought a 996 C4S with rebuilt 3.8 engine to transition from the M3 to rear engined platform. In the 6 months I had it, though, it cost more than the M3 has in 5 years. Ohlins coilover, new brake pads and rotors, GT3 LCA for front, rear axle and bearings, seats, and head unit and speakers. Some were maintenance but some were so that I can track it, like I did with the M3. In hind sight, what I spent plus the M3 could have gotten me an M2.....
I briefly drove an s2000, and read somewhere that shifting at 6000 RPM would barely take it to 60 in 10 seconds. I had a 95 Integra GS-R and that also had a long power curve to climb before getting somewhere. However, it handled great and ran amazingly well until it was stolen for parts at 190,000 miles.
