I haven't seen Nick on the track, so I think he wants better MPG to drive around town.
I think you should sell the car and send the proceeds to Greece to assist with their floundering economy....

Curious question that I’m not sure was asked. Out of all of you guys who did the Ring and Pinion, did anyone do a lwfw? Are did you all stick with the dual mass flywheel?

I did a 4.125 ring and pinion from guard and a re-gear... at the time the 3.89 ring and pinion was not available for purchase from Porsche
today would likely just do the 3.89 ring and pinion and maybe maybe a new 3, 4, 5, and fall be factory 5 into 6
no matter the route you go, they are all big improvements over the crappy stock 3.44

u can do what you want but none are working
the only way to get it right is :
LWFW
re-gear
with the correct R&P
I have done them separately on many cars.
it just doesn't work all that well. it's OK but not great. it's like you asked for catsup and I hand you sriracha. it works, but aint right.
some may think they got it working, that's only b/c they haven't driven one that is done right.
and there are very very few cars done right. in fact PJS is the only one I know of that is correctly done.

I put a cup car R&P in my 997 RS and first gear is a stump puller. Acceleration with Hoosier A7s is violent. And short. On street tires is is crazy easy to have a bit of tail wag at an intersection if turning.

I did a 4.0 r&p in my 996 gt3 and Gamroth called me an idiot ;-)

In regards to street-only driving, that is what my RS is used for. The R&P change is fantastic for street use. I can pull away from stops much easier, and my loyal and honest tech (Ben @ Salerno Motorsports, Rocklin, CA), says he is very impressed with the strong second gear acceleration compared with the OEM setup. I have found this the single best modification yet for my 3.6RS because it helps resolve the lack of 'oomph' caused by too-tall overall gearing and the smaller 3.6 liter displacement (compared to its bigger siblings). Money well spent IMHO (about $12K for the entire gearbox mods and labor now all is said and done).

4.0 RS Clutch Kit and lighter crank pulley (balanced)
Cup Car R&P (4.0:1)
Re-gear the box (track dependent), I went with stock 1st & 2nd, New 3-5, and moved old 5th into sixth spot.
All new Cup car synchros were needed.
GT Diff (GT2+ Pro) - 50/80 ramps (could re-ramp the OEM Diff with GT Ramps)
Anything else is just a compromise.
