GT3 Not Starting Until After Multiple Attempts
#16
I am org owner of an early production GT3 2010 . The earlier production cars had BAD Starters, as mine did went through all kinds of bull**** with the dealer for a year clutch switch battery ignition switch. I was afraid to turn off the car for a gas fill up. some times it would start right away other times 2 or 3 tries before the motor would fire. FINALLY those dicks at Porsche replaced the starter and I have NEVER had the problem happen again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you hear a click then power is getting to the starter solenoid (solenoid makes the clicking sound) which eliminates the clutch or ignition switches as the problem since they would stop power from getting to the starter in the first place.
I had the same problem and it was a bad starter as well, haven't had a problem since. Power was getting to it but it took multiple key turns for it to catch. There seems to be a problem with these starters.

I am having the identical problem with my 2010 RS, but my dealer wont replace the starter while under CPO. This is in spite of me reporting the problem happening three times in past two months, because it is not happening while currently in their shop.

This problem can be intermittent. The good news or maybe the bad news is that it will probably get worse so it will eventually happen when in the shop. You might try calling Porsche NA and speak to someone there since this is a known issue and they might approve the dealer changing the starter, worth a shot.

yep my car was in the shop several times, and of course they would not believe me because the problem comes and goes[the clicking noise when you turn the key] finally the forth time in the shop ,a year out, the mechanic went to bring the car into the service area and it happened to the service mechanic while I was standing in front of them. They replaced under warrantee. I do not why they put up such a fight when it is a known problem.
