Alright time to come clean...

My father does own a C4S cab and Boxster Spyder.. that's true. He is considering buying a 991 RS for investment but I don't like the car and encourage him to go for a 997 instead..

I just wanted to know about the differences between the cars to have a better argument with him but was afraid I wouldn't be taken seriously by anyone.. which ended up being the case anyway.

Sorry for being a dishonest a**hole.

Haha wow.

So you don't like the New RS so Daddy needs to buy the one you like just so you can feel better about another RS rotting in a garage in a hope to make a buck?

Good work.

Where's the lock smile gone??

a 991 RS is a 4.0,
but
is not a RS 4.0!

you'll figure it out, or not.

You got it wrong sir.., but I guess I might deserve some flaming after my childish behavior..

I think the 997 gen is a better purist car than the 991. We do track the cars a few times a year. And I see nothing wrong with wanting to make a buck in todays economy.

But what would I know, better ask 'daddy' for advice.

I don't understand much about the investment side of this, but I know that here in Spain they're selling for good money.
In general I've noticed prices in Spain are typically higher than other parts of the world..

So, are you talking about 991 GT3 RS (4.0) vs 997.1 GT3 RS (3.6)?

If so, you better be still as an investment. GT cars are not selling well for a while, plus you have German cars that are easily and cheaply imported.

If you want to buy anything right now, get a 997.2 GT3 RS (3.8), if you have the money get a 4.0.
The only GT Porsche selling are the ones from dealers, that give loans to anyone and the leasing ones. Those are the ones that have big prices and that might sell either for less or for wtvr ridiculous number they state, but they give credit at +15% on top of the overpriced price.

991RS vs 997RS, to say 997 is purist is BS. they are just differnt. and yes. i have multiple of each.
991RS is not an investment. it will only drop in value.
if you must invest, 997RS4.0 might be the one. and for $500k, you can have mine.
either one is a good car
buy and drive it.

I still don’t understand if the question is:

997 RS 4.0 vs 997 RS 3.6

Or

991 RS 4.0 vs 997 RS 3.6

I have had all and I’d vote 997 x.x whatever first and foremost if going to put in a garage and go drive on nice Sunday afternoon occasionally. I buy a 991rs to trash at a track every day of week. There are only more 991 GT product on the way. And it will only get more awesome. No need to buy a 991 unless u plan to consume it (aka drive the wheels off it). If it’s viewed as an actual car, it’s best toy money can buy.

Yes, sorry.
The original question was 3.6 RS vs RS 4.0, but having read all of your opinions about the 4.0 the question is now 991 RS 4.0 vs 997 4.0, as the latter is the argument that's going on between my father and I at the moment.
