Default Advice Please: Replacement Speakers for 997.2

The right woofer on my 2009 997.2 C2 with Bose System is shot and sounds like the cone has separated from the outer housing. So I'm looking to at least replace both of them.

Here's the caveat... I'm NOT an audiophile by any means and I consider a car to be one of the worse audio environments that there is. Hence, in the car I keep the volume low and mostly listen to news broadcasts and classical music stations. Truthfully I rather hear the sound of our purring engines... now that's music!!

Anyway, I need advice on speaker brands and models that are remove/replace for the Bose System, will just basically make the offending noise to go away and are relatively inexpensive. I don't want or need ghetto bass nor pristine "purist" sound reproduction.

Your recommendations and insight will be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the speaker is bad? Sometimes failing electronics can sound "farty".

If it is the speaker, try contacting a Porsche dismantler... Parts Heaven, Oklahoma Foreign, DC Automotive.... for a used unit.

I replaced the speakers in my car to improve the sound and, in short, it is difficult and many hours of work. The reason is that it was virtually impossible to find units that just drop in. For that door woofer, the Bose has a speaker with a cage thingy that integrates with the door mounts.... IIRC. To use a different woofer, I had to buy a specially milled mounting ring purchased from a California car audio specialist. If you are referring to the rear subwoofer unit, I did not replace this speaker and have no comment other than to pull the unit appart, remove the offending woofer, and carry it into a car audio specialist for their opinion.... or just cut the wire and stop the farting.

So.... I recommend a dismantler, then contact an audio specialist who works on these models for a recommendation.

Removal of the door and or rear subs are not difficult and fun DIY.

Peace

Default Bose speaker

i would search google for a used speaker to simply replace it. It's a simple swap.

6speedonline has a speaker upgrade thread here

Can get better replacement Bose subs for $25 each. If you can turn a screwdriver you will be able to replace the Bose subs.

If wanting to keep it stock, I will sell you my Bose subs when I upgraded.

Just an FYI, I called Becker this morning and they confirmed the refurbished CDR-220 they are sending is completely plug and play and will work just fine in my 2002. $350...$200 after $150 returned core credit. Seems reasonable to me?
