Default 991.1 Centerlocks on 997.2

Has anyone put the 991.1 Turbo S wheels on their 997.2 GTS? I LOVE the look of the all black 20x11.5 rears and 20x9 fronts. Just wondered how it affected the ride and if it looks too goofy? Otherwise its Forgeline as a second option...after I find said GTS haha.

Anyone..? Just looking for aftermarket rim ideas. So far Forgeline seems like the most viable option

eeeh. I'd say just go with the forgelines. I'm just saying if you're going to pay money to change the wheels might as well get a wider wheel with perfect offsets. by wider I mean 12" rear

I personally think a 20" wheel on a 997 does look goofy. Though I'm sure some will disagree. The 991 looks good with it, but on 997 it looks like too much wheel. In that same space you could be putting more rubber, which is going to benefit your ride and performance. Obviously with a 20" wheel in the rear you cant squeeze as much rubber in there.

It depends on the use of the car. If its for hard-parking.. no harm I guess.

Do you have Forgelines on yours? I am looking at the GA1R Centerlock and the GE1...leaning toward the GA1R but what is the difference between the +47 deep and +59 shallow on the GA1R...would the +59 shallow 19x12 stick out too much? Same for the 19x9 fronts...should I go +47 or +52??

Thinking pearl grey or graphite powder coat on a Basalt Black car. Black center hub from Suncoast also.

And no hard parking...hard driving with some of this if I don't feel like taking the bike out

From an offset point of view, the stock 19" centerlock rims for the GTS and the 997 turbo are the same.
Front: 8.5x19" ET56
Rear: 11x19" ET51

For the 991.1 Turbo 20" centerlocks, the offsets are:
Front: 8.5x20" ET51
Rear: 11x20" ET59
(according to suncoast parts website)

You can use a calculator to figure out where you gain/lose room relative to the stock setup, but in this case its easy since the rim widths are the same. The fronts will stick out 5mm more, and the rears will be sunk inwards 8mm compared to the stock centerlocks. Considering the stock setup looks a bit sunken in on both the front and rear, the 991.1 turbo 20" will look better up front, but worse in the rear.

Using an offset calculator, the 12x20" ET59 will bump out 5mm and also take up 21mm more space inside which is fine since there's plenty of space in the rear. It'll look pretty good from a flush-ness perspective.

The 9x20" fronts (I assume you meant 20" but you typed 19") I would go with the ET52 set as that would extend the wheel 10mm from the stockers and take up 2mm inside (which is fine). It might look a bit too protruding up front, but if you dial in some negative camber (which you need for the track) it'll look great.

Another thing to keep in mind is going for 20" wheels means you have to get 20" tires, which will most likely be 245/35/20 front and 305/30/20 rear. This tire is slightly larger in diameter than our 19" stock setup of 305/30/19 which will give the effect of longer gearing (i.e. you will accelerate slightly slower). Couple that with a heavier wheel (because a 20" rim usually weighs more than a 19" and the tire weight difference is small) which will increase unsprung mass, you'll probably feel a bit more sluggish in a straight line.

Also going for a larger overall diameter up front might cause some rubbing issues along the fender liner at full lock.

Many people actually downsize for tracking (991 guys go to 19's and 997 guys go to 18's) since there's usually more tire sizes available and they're cheaper. I've tried both 18's and 19's and I'd recommend 19's since it's easier to stick to the stock sizes, and you only really go 18's if you want to use NT01's or R888's. While those are great track tires, 19" options are getting better such as Cup 2's and RE71R's. Although after running 18's with a slightly smaller diameter wheel, going to 19's did feel a tad slower.
