Little visit to the Porsche Factory & Museum....with 997 content
I just returned from a little vacation to visit family in Ireland, and took a side trip to Germany. Since we were somewhat close to Stuttgart, I couldn't resist the urge to make a pit-stop at the Porsche Museum.
Thankfully, I also scheduled a factory tour weeks back, and managed to squeeze into the two remaining spots for the day we were planning to visit the museum.
The factory tour was amazing and you really appreciate the detail and planning required to make 911's/718's etc in the confines of the Stuttgart factory, which is essentially in a residential zone.
Unfortunately but understandably, no cameras were allowed on the factory tour. One of the highlights was seeing the actual work station where the Cup cars are assembled one by one, and meeting the guy who builds them.
Once we completed the factory tour, we popped into the museum where we spent another hour. The museum is fantastic with lots of history about the Porsche family, and lots of the cars which they influenced through the start of the company. It was appropriately rich with motorsports heritage everywhere.
I was pleasantly surprised to find as many 997's as I did, albeit the unicorn models more so than the garden variety.
This visit was a bucket list item for me and it didn't disappoint. The only way to improve on this visit would be to rent out a 911 and tour around in it also, which we didn't do. Got to leave something new to do for the next trip
Anyway, I wanted to share the photos with you all. Enjoy!
A prelude to the day we were going to have.
Make no mistake you are in Stuttgart.

2 to 6 hours for the museum, depending upon your intent to read associated signage. A couple hours for the factory tour.
As long as you're there, schedule a day for the Mercedes Museum as well.

We visited the Factory and the Museum in May. Both were fantastic.
Thanks for sharing your pics. It was interesting to see the difference in your pictures and my own, of the same cars.

The Rothmans car is on the ceiling?????? Sacrilege. I was there back in 2001. Obviously not as many modern cars, but saw a pair of 959's in the shop and a cutaway Cayane.

Thanks guys, I'd go visit it again - it's really a fantastic place and I was surprised at how busy it was. I know it doesn't look that busy in the photos, but there were multiple group tours for the factory and they were at full tour capacity when I visited.

Great pics thanks for sharing!
I was there 2 years ago and I love how Porsche rotates the cars constantly. You can go multiple times and see different cars every time. Perfect excuse to keep coming back
