Default Yellow fluid all over my garage floor! 997.2 C4

Hi,

I just purchased a C4, PPI checked out OK. Drove it home, another hard drive last night after a 15-minute warm up keeping it under 3k, and I smell a faint rubber burning smell. No worries, as I was pushing the car hard. This morning, I have a lot of fluid collecting on my garage floor. Yellow, a bit of a sweet smell. Is this tranny fluid or differential fluid? It is coming out from near where the transmission is located. 2009 C4, 6MT, 33k miles.

The transmission feels fine, I hope this is just a seal leak. I assume you would recommend getting it towed to the repair shop? Anyone else with this problem in the past? Known issue?

Sweet smell and yellow say coolant to me. I think the current Porsche approved color for coolant is pink. A quick check of the coolant resivour will confirm once its cooled off.

Yellow is not a typical Porsche coolant color and the power steering fluid is green. Look at your coolant tank ro see what color your coolant is.

Don't know of any yellow fluids. The closest thing I can think of is an AC leak since the PAG oil is bright green. Is your AC still blowing cold?

Best scenario is that someone just dropped a piece of popsicle on the ground.

I vote brake fluid.....its yellow. If it is, clean it up as it will eat paint and clearcoat.

Probably coolant. Easy enough to determine. Check the brake, power steering, coolant levels. The reservior with the low level is leaked fluid.

BTW, coolant, power steering fluid (Pentosin) and brake fluid are water soluble. Transmission and engine fluid are not.

Get some fluid on your finger tips and put in some water. If the fluid is washed away water soluble.

Best to get the car flat bedded to a shop to have the leak addressed.

Thanks! The mechanic thought it was hydraulic steering fluid, it is also yellowish, or can be. Will let you know. I am getting the car towed tomorrow.

Power steering fluid is dark green like a kiwi fruit. It's not yellow. I just added some a while back. Keep an eye on that mechanic if he does not know better.
