Default Spark plug replacement

Is there a detailed procedure on how to change the spark plugs on a 2011 997 carrera?

You can do it with the mufflers installed. In fact, the 997 Workshop Manual doesn't call for the removal of the mufflers, only the rear wheels. I suggest you do it with the mufflers installed and get yourself a really good set of universal adapters and extensions. If you need the extra space to get the plugs out then it is acceptable to remove the muffler. A good mechanic can do it with the mufflers installed.

Does a torque wrench accurately measure torque with these universal adapters in line?

I am a bit of a sissy when it comes to working on my 2009 C2S... I remove the rear bumper and mufflers..... I don't like difficult or fiddly work spaces. I've done my plugs twice now as well as on a 996. I can;t imagine not removing the mufflers if you don't have a lift.... I just would not be able to see or get under there.

Peace

The torque setting is different if you ad an angle or an extension. You do have to calculate the difference and there is a formula in order to do so but the good news is with most torque values you do get a tolerance of +/- 10% of the required torque. So in reality, it's negligible.

Well, on the 997.2 passenger side, I forgot to install the ignition wires as I was interrupted and put everything back together. On starting I knew exactly what I had forgotten. You must have 4 year old hands as I had to unbolt the mufflers just to give me enough room to remove the heat shield and give me room to connect the ignition quick connects. I can't imagine trying to get the wrenches, extensions and the plugs out and in without removing the muffler.

I was looking at the bolts and nuts that hold my muffler on, they are looking very rusty. Does anyone know the replacement size? If I'm removing my mufflers to get to the spark plug, this looks like a good time to replace them .

Thanks,

I don't know the size. However, I replaced mine with ones from a local automotive store 9-10 months ago and they are rusted again. My car is rarely in inclement weather but it has seen some rain.

I looked for some stainless nuts but couldn't find anything locally. So if someone has a place where we can order some at a reasonable price, please let us know.

13mm=1/2 inch
If you are doing any bolt undoing.
Soak all the nuts and bolt with penetrating oil the day before.
And wear work gloves. They help absorb leaking red liquid.
