997 and it's 'size'
So all the 911 purists lament how the 911 has grown, and think the 997 is 'big' for a Porsche.
I have to admit that I don't think it's a small car, especially in the rear (wide body here) which gives it a lot of rump.
I finally got all three cars together (other half's S3, my daily e-Golf) and snapped a quick photo - I was surprised how petite the 911 looked compared to a measly Golf and Golf in drag lol.
Thought you all might get a kick out of it

It's small compared to the 991s, but I do agree that the size has grown as evidenced by the factory wheel size which has grown with each generation up to the current 20 inches.
Maybe I'm biased, but I do think that the 997 size is just right.

The 997 is not small compared to the 991 as has been demonstrated many times by the actual measurements of their dimensions

997 does look small compared to 'regular' cars in the original post. of course it's simple to understand that just measuring absolute dimensions doesn't adequately tell a story of visual impact. one car may only be smaller than another by 1.5" and one direction and less than an inch in another.. and still look noticeably smaller.
you don't have to go to art school to understand visual weight

I decided to sell my 997 and buy a 991 because the 997 was so infinitesimally small, I could hardly fit inside the cockpit. It was miniscule... Lilliputian even.... The ***** and switches in the cockpit were teeny-weeny, the seats were hardly large enough for a pygmy.
I found that I could only drive the car with the windows down, otherwise it was difficult to shift gears because my elbow would hit the passenger's side window glass! I worried when I parked the car outdoors on windy days; was afraid it would be blown away! I actually still worry about this, since my 991 weighs less than my 997.

No feat at all given that your 997 (per your sig line) was the heaviest possible 11 of the time - a loaded Turbo cab and the 991 cabs are just slightly lighter. Compare that to a lightly optioned 997 coupe (non Turbo).
