997.2 GT3 rear wing on 997.2 C4S
Hi,
I am sure this has been covered before, but I can't find it.
A buddy of mine with a 997.2 GT3 just upgraded to a Cup rear wing + intake and will give me his GT3 rear wing (basically the whole decklid + the shocks)
Both of our cars are 997.2 (mine's a C4S) and both are meteor grey - perfect fit - right?
Ideally this should be plug & play: take off my rear decklid and put the GT3 decklid on? Yes, I know I will loose the C4S red strip.
Does anyone know if the openings for the intake align?
If not I can also have his intake, but I'd assume that the GT3 has a larger throttle body...
Did anyone ever go down this route?
And I say it again: Both cars are 997.2, meaning we have different intakes than the 997.1

Different airbox, I would love to do this too, but keep my red strip! I don't think things will line up. Let us know how it works out. plus you need something to trick the ECU into thinking the normal up and down wing is still there or you gear a nasty gram.

^^^^ what he said. airbox doesn't line up. you'll need to cut the wing or replace the box. CIA would take care of it pretty easily though not as effectively as OEM swap. coding the active wing off using a dura takes 5 minutes... or 1 hr labor from your local dealer.

ok, bonus question:
As I said I can also have his GT3 air-box, but I would assume that the GT3 has a bigger throttle body, so the GT3 air-box would be too wide on my throttle body?

This one is making me think but I'm almost certain your 9A1 engine's throttle body and his Mezger's throttle body will not line up. So the air box may fit on the airbox mounts but won't fit to your TB. The MAF connector may be different too. Not sure about that though.

Doubt the angle and position of the throttle body on both cars is the same. Probably will need to go with a Fabspeed or similar intake designed for your motor which will also look cooler with the wing, sound better, and give you better throttle response, but not any addt'l power unless you also have other mods. Put K&N hydrophobic pre-filter covers on the open filters if you drive your car regularly and it sees rain.
