Default Most likely Switching to GT3... now need a daily car, what are my options?

I'm 70% close to switching to a GT3. Now one issue of moving up to a track car is I lose the daily function of my 997 C4S. I know some daily the GT3 but with the heavy clutch, noise and low clearance it's not really meant for it.

So, I need to also figure out what daily car I could add? My GF has a Tiguan that we both use and it's a great little CUV, so my daily should be either a sedan, hatch or maybe wagon? What are your thoughts guys? Budget is 20K or so.

996 Carrera 4 Cab with a tip and 17 inch wheels

Rides like a dream, east to drive, and with the AWD and drop top all season car.
Also with a budget of $20K you can get one and still have money left over for some hookers and blow.

DD the GT3 until the end of the summer. Then decide.
One less car, one less insurance slip.

why not just take it easy and get a 5-6 year old lexus rx350. should fit your budget and other then reasonable maintenance you don't have to worry about reliability whatsoever. they are nice looking SUV's too. also a 2013 model and onwards takes 87 octane gas.

I bought a 2007 Mustang GT to daily, it's a sheep in wolf's clothing, but it runs on regular gas.

I would hold off getting a GT3 right now. I have a feeling when the 991.2 GT3 comes out with MT, GT3's will come down in value. I could be wrong but it doesn't hurt to wait. As far as a daily driver, you can get a slightly used 2015 Hyundai Sante Fe for less than $20K, comes with 100K mile warranty, basically gas and go.

Nice condition E46 330i. Cheap, easy and cheap to repair, great driving vehicle, adequate power, comfortable, quiet, good enough space. Alternatively, E39 530i if you want a bigger car.

If you want to keep it in the Boxer family, your only $2oK option is a Subaru.
$20k can find you a new one, or 20k can find you a used wrx.
I'm on my 3rd STi.

This is my everyday struggle.

Keep it in the family and you'll have a happier dealer/indy which may help you in the long run...
$20k budget out the window:
A Macan or Panny will tow an open trailer 997 GT3.
A Cayenne will tow an enclosed trailer.

This is also good advice but I'd go with the E39 540i and skip the E46. They're both cheap enough now that you'll appreciate the extra room and oomph at the same relative price point (compared to that GT3).

For me, reliability, utility and comfort are the main considerations in choosing a daily, which luxury and performance coming after as "less important." Note, this is the formula if you're operating on a modest budget and already have your dream car in the garage. If you have a more robust budget, or looking for a single car to provide both fun and utility, I'd reorder that priority list a bit.

With that said, I drive a 2017 Tacoma. My budget for a daily was a bit higher than yours (but my 997 Turbo is less expensive than the GT3 you're about to get), but for me, the Tacoma checks all of those above boxes. It is reliable, has plenty of utility, and is comfortable on the highway. For $20K you could get a used one that would give you 200K+ miles if you wanted to take it that high. Not everyone is a truck guy though, and if I were to get a $20K sedan, I'd be looking at something like a used Honda Accord sport or an Acura TSX, or perhaps a Lexus ES350 if you want to step up the luxury a bit. All of those cars are super reliable and comfortable, and make good daily drivers. I like the idea of a used WRX like the guy posted above, I just don't know a lot about their reliability.

Sure, Range Rovers and Cayennes sound a lot more fun, but I'm not about to deal with potential maintenance issues and costs on a $20K one of those.
