any 997.1 owners try LED fog replacement bulbs?

As ever, Petza makes some good points, good man!
I'd avoid glue, in fact I think I will get the Morimoto resistors from TRS. They are $20 per pair, but aluminum body, weatherproof and come with mounting eyes.

I've been doing some custom LED lighting work on my Cayenne and have been using these encapsulated Canbus compatible resistors. You can likely buy them with the correct plug for your application, making them just plug & play and the outsides of the boxes don't get hot.

This is the resistor kit I have. Came in pairs. It's an anodised aluminium body with 2 mounting eyes. You can see them in the picture. Cable harness is "waterproof" with shrink fittings on the cables. Or at least seems to be good quality. It's also plug-n-play. Actually - the resistor you see is almost 2 inches long and has 2 mounting eyes.
I will run it from work and check temp when I come home.

I'm sure many of us don't use the fog for added light output but it appears you lost quite a lot of usable light with the switch. Is that just the photo or is that an accurate assumption?

The lumen is probably correct. 800 lumen as indicated which should be very similar to the normal halogen bulb. However - you see that the Halogen gives no light above knee level while the LED gives much more spread.
So I agree - to see the ground just in front of the vehicle the Halogen is better but to be used as DRL I think the LED is better or equally good. I don't think it will cause any unwanted attention from other cars daytime since it's still very weak vs daylight. I will not use it at the same time as the xenons but only as DRL daytime.

Dumb question... if you have to use resistors to avoid flickering and the warning light error on dash, does this mean it's still drawing the full wattage eventhough it's a high efficiency LED? I'm wondering because I'd like to use these as DRLs but don't want to be drawing a ton of power all the time.
Would the full retrofit kit (e.g. dectane) also be drawing full power?

Do you think they match the factory HID low beams well? Do you have any pics?

I just bought the zXe's for my fogs and high beams as well, although I have not installed them yet. I was looking for the brightest, whitest halogen lights I could get so I didn't have to go down the LED or HID conversion route. It sounds like the zXe's fit the bill.

Here is a more recent post from rodH regarding LED H11 bulbs for the fog lights. Amazon link is in the post. I purchased a pair and they are much brighter than the stock halogens, with no error codes.

The HID low beams stay on when you use your high beams, and zXe' high beam bulbs more closely match the intensity and white color of the HID's than the factory bulbs. Same goes for the fog lights. I always felt that the factory fog lights were dull and under powered compared to the HID low beams. Again, the zXe fog lights more closely match the HID's without overpowering them. Nothing annoys me more than seeing an oncoming driver with aftermarket fog lights that overpower their low beams and are not aimed properly. I drive with my fog lights on whenever I'm using my low beams for a wider spread of light, especially for going around dark corners at night, and the zXe's are an improvement.
Overall, not a bad upgrade that you can pickup at a local auto parts store for not a lot of money.

Excellent! Thanks for the thorough review. I know what I’ll be doing after my baby’s weekly bath tomorrow!!
