I'd love to see all these models on same tires like Sport Cup 2's. I wonder how close my 997.2TTS could be to the 2014 and the 2017 TTS with same tires.
I competed against all the newer iron in One Lap. We were all running either PS4s or Bridgestones. The 997 can't compete.

Which 997?
And no offense but without same drivers or very closely skilled drivers, that's more of an opinion vs. fact.

I expect new cars to be better, even on same rubber, but drivers make huge difference. Not just in skill level but, how far I'm willing to push a car based on my GAFF / income / not wanting to hurt my car or don't care VS. someone that can't afford track insurance and has to worry about everything that happens to their car, means a great deal in lap times too.

Only way to tell would be to have a 997.2 TTS, 991.1TTS, and a 991.2TTS supplied by Porsche to one driver on same track / same day with instructions to "Do what needs to be done to prove which is better".

.1 S. I'm a NASA National Champion. I was pushing as hard as everyone else (we all had to make it home 3500 miles). It's a fair comparison. Cars from the last 5-6 years are so much faster.

Okay.. That makes it better.

Still would like to see the TTS's go at it. Little more tech in them over NA models I think (active engine mounts, torque vectoring, etc.).

Thanks for reply.

Ring times from Auto Motor und Sport (AMuS), with either Horst von Saurma or Christian Gebhardt at the helm. Here are their times for various Porsches over the years (with the 997 models highlighted in grey).

More grist for the mill...

Motor Trend recently published their 2018 Best Driver's Car: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2018-best-drivers-car/

Added the latest results (including a sprinkling of laptimes for modern 'affordable' cars) to the Laguna Seca table. The 997 times are highlighted in grey.
