My 997.2 is the last of the true 911's...

The only real 911 is a tiptronic 996 cabrio.

Three Wheelin'
A 4 cylinder alone and I'll agree with this. A 4 cylinder with just a turbo.. I'm still agreeing that its all wrong. But a 4 cylinder thats twincharged (which is turbo + supercharger) or a 4 cylinder plus electric power.. it could be fun. Not saying I'd dream of replacing my GTS with such a thing. However.. If they sold one that was sized like 997.2.. with a similar curb weight, but more torque (especially down low) and more horsepower.. it could be quite a package.
The innovation coming regarding making power is interesting. I'll wait to drive one to weigh in. Though, again.. nothing like that would replace the GTS

Another reminder why not to get too concerned based on test mule appearance:
Here are the pics of the early 991 mule (when it was still being guessed that it would be called 998 - back in 2008)

Maybe wishful thinking but this looks more compact to me than the 991. Other than that, what's the reason for having different wheels front and rear?

Meh, dont like the subtle changes to overall lines but cant judge details. Will reserve judgment until later.

Looks good!
As mentioned by others, test mules are so camo'ed up there's many details covered and distorted.
Love the wider front fenders + 964 style bumper (fender / hood / front bumper) lines.
The rear almost remind me of a baby 959 with that spoiler up and extending to the width of the car.
I'm pretty bad at photoshopping, but chopped the rear picture to get a better idea. Always fun to try to guess what the production model will look like!
The tail lights should look like the new panamera's and the 991.2's 3D / slanted and sleek look. Rear will still have the vertically slanted engine covers.
The rear diffusor / sat nav / camera is also covered up like the front of the car.

This is pure physics by way of aesthetics.
They keep lengthening the wheelbase for looks, etc. whatever.
This shrinks the classic big 911 rear end and moves the balance of the engine forward.
Essentially creating a bigger GT Cayman lol.
