I have actually done an in depth study of this. I own 8 cars currently. I previously owned a 1999 911 and now own a 2009. The IMSB failed on my 1999, but none of my other cars have had an IMS failure.

So I have reached one of two conclusions and I'm not sure which to go with. 1 out of 8 cars has an IMS failure? Or 100% of 1999 911's have an IMS failure?

All the techs I know have said that the failures happen on low-mile cars that aren't used much. All of the sealed single row bearings seals fail and the internal lube goes away. When the car is driven the bearing get splash lubrication. If the car sits a lot, the bearing dries out.

Quick Reply: so Porsche says 8% of M96/97 IMS were effected, help me out, wouldn't 8% basically
