iPhone compatibility
Is the iPhone able to sync with the Motorola bluetooth system that came with the car? The car is 10 years old and I worry if it will it work with the latest phone.
Thanks!

Is it an aftermarket Motorola kit?

The owners manual tells you how to pair the phone. Note that it only does phone calls and it does not play music unless it's connected using the Y cable via the USB Port and the aux port

The car came with the bluetooth and integrated phone from the factory. This was back in '07 and I was thinking that the odds of a new phone connecting were low. The manual has to be 200 pages! We shall see.

Are you sure it's PCM 3.0? That system didn't launch in the US until the 2009 model year. Before that it was PCM 2.1 in the 997. If your car is a 2007 model, then it's PCM 2.1. It's possible to connect to PCM 2.1 via Bluetooth with an aftermarket kit. I don't think the OE phone kit allowed Bluetooth connectivity.

I've been able to use the BT phone connectivity on my 2010 C4S Cab (PCM 3.0) with an iPhone 5, 5S, 6 and now my 6S. The only problem that I have had has been with the size of my contact list overwhelming the memory capacity of my car. I have had to turn off the automatic Address Book transfer because it was causing my PCM to regularly crash. This was the cause of MANY efforts to deal with this under my CPO coverage, which upgraded my system version multiple times but was ultimately unable to fix the root cause. No biggie, I just can't see the names associated with the incoming or outgoing calls on the car. And for music, I keep an old 160gb iPod classic plugged in full-time with the Y cable to run all my music through the PCM.
No such iPhone problems in my 2012 Cayenne S (PCM 3.1) where they have solved for that problem

There are several popular options. I used Mobridge in my 997. It was excellent, but quite expensive. Another popular option is Tranzit Blu. I don't have any experience with it, but many people give it good reviews and it's not expensive. It allows you to stream Bluetooth audio too.
