Novice questions on tracking the 997

@himself What's the difference between ducts and scoops? Are there specific products you can point out? I'll be running a C2S at Road America in October but I'm not really planning on changing anything for the first time out...more or less to see how the car does stock.
Ducts run from the front of the car and pass tons of air directly to the rotors. Scoops run under the car and catch whatever air is not pushed away by the front aero/splitter. The factory duct is HUGE compared to the scoop. Maybe 4 or 5 times bigger.

As for brake cooling, you will get some additional cooling from the front GT3 ducts, but your front nose will affect air flow to them. As you can see, there ins't a huge improvement in size between #1 and #2. But, the GT2 ducts are HUGE. Almost twice as big, extending a full inch lower than the GT3 ducts. You will definitely rub on speed bumps and anything low. AND if you go off track, they turn into shovels, grab dirt, rocks, and grass and snap off. A really quick way to lose $250. IMO, you should stick with the GT3 ducts.

I use liberal amounts of Armour All Wheel Protectant on the outside outer rims of my wheels. Otherwise I get specks of metal-like brake pad material that seems almost welded to the paint from my OEM pads.

I had an E30 track car which used to cook the brakes mid session and after installing ducting (and nothing else) the car easily made a full session out. So i would defintly reccomend that.
Another thing that I found crucial in my track experience is to keep monitoring your tyre pressure through out the day.
The hotter the tyres get the higher the pressure inside, so as soon as possible after the session
get a gauge onto the tyres.

actually wasnt a track day aka DE. It was an autocross day in the heart of Oklahoma summer so 95 degrees out.. Greasy track surface on which the autocross was laid out (local sheriff track in okc). I was braking very late, and trail braking the tight bends (being a goofball)... I did no cool down laps between three sessions, car would sit and than do another hot lap. The result, I lost the brakes.. And mowed some grass, zero damage..replaced brake fluid and all was fine again Tires overheated too of course

The problem with that is you could go 4 wheels off track, spin or crash. Essentially, you don't want to lose control of the car. Going off track could black flag the session or cause an accident.
FYI, I've been running SRF fluid and PFC08 as the only mods (997.2 S) and my gundo hack . The car performs fine on short tracks and long tracks in temps from 50-100F. Blackhawk farms, Road America, Gingerman, Autobahn (all configs). (20-30min sessions) I've never run anything longer and my times are all very respectable running Super Sport and Sport Cup 2's.

@3Series How long do your PFC08s last at Road America? I'm gonna be there Oct. 8th and 9th and am looking to order some track pads this weekend. I have the gt3 front and turbo rear brake ducts on order to help with the cooling. I ran Torque RT700 in my Challenger and it did great so I'll probably stick with that fluid.
