I can think about a lot of things you could use that cash for, even if cash not the need.

I have a motorcycle and as someone pointed out, that is the most engaging ride but I still daily drive it to work. If I am feeling more subdued or need to wear a suit or it is raining cats and dogs, the 911 it is. If there is two feet of snow or I need to take the dogs to the vet, I'll take the X5.

It all depends on what you want your comfort level to be and how dedicated you are to the lifestyle of whatever it is that you ride/drive.

I don't think Double_J is alone. As much as I look forward to getting into my manual 997 on weekends for a cruise or early morning spirited blast, I prefer to use the family wagon or daughter's VW Polo for commuting and short trips, especially where traffic & carparks are involved. While I have toyed with the idea of PDK (having previously had a Golf GTI DSG which I loved as a great all rounder), I don't think this would lead me to drive my 997 any more than I do now (<5000km pa).

Consequently I can relate to Double_J in thinking that my next car may be a sporty DD rather than a weekend special. Even so, I am in no rush to sell, and have just decided to get up early tomorrow, just so I can go for a drive up the coast in my 997 before work.

Sell it to me!

I'm looking for a 997.2 C4S manual. I'm in Denver, so first thing I'll do is put on a roof rack, mount some winter wheels, and head into the mountains! I'll be daily driving and skiing/ hiking/ camping on the weekends, with my Labrador!

Give your 911 the life it always wanted! PM me!!!

I'd take myself for a head examination if I wasn't desiring to drive my 911 every single day.

The 911 is a dream car for many people, but for some the dream is better than the reality. Given the OP's first post and his 20K traffic filled commute, I would think he'd be better suited with a "sporty sedan" like the RS7 (or even just the S7) or even a Macan Turbo, Panamera, new M3 or any number of other cars rather than something like a 911. Nobody wants to commute in bumper to bumper traffic in a manual, but I also think that getting a PDK and just sitting in traffic most of the time with it would be frustrating.

If you aren't finding the time to take the car out to drive it like it was meant to be driven, and if you're only putting 1500 miles on it in a year, you are definitely wasting the car and it's probably not good for the car's health either. I'd sell if I were you.

i can relate, and go through periods myself of just driving one of the other cars i share with my wife and daughter. but, i always come back to the P-cars, and get engaged again. as a result, i have owned one of them of one kind or another for 25 years. i don't have the garage problems you do...4 cars and they all have a spot, but just keep it, and when you are ready, it will be there.

If you have access to a lot of cars, and you are getting older, then I completely understand. I also own several porsches/Ferrari/etc. When I want to just get someplace, I take my Toyota highlander. Way more comfortable, easier to get into, and I can park it anywhere.

The other cars are "event" cars. Driven on rare weekends, or the track.

Take the car to the track, use it for what it was designed to do....

Right tool for the right job.

I tried driving my prior stick 996 in traffic. It was miserable...

Do you hate driving stick in heavy traffic?
Or do you hate the heavy traffic?

Not driving your 911 is like not screwing your girlfriend. You're just saving her for the next guy.

He's preaching the gospel, OP! Make time for an extensive back road driving, brake squealing, engine smelling, brake roasting, gasoline wasting date with your 911. If you're not attitude readjusted afterwards, sell it...T
