WTF just happened???!!!
Thankfully received my 911 C4 2006 from the dealer -- a bolt sheared off holding my lower idler pulley wheel and the recessed bolt shaft had to come out, however Porsche did it.....wire EDM, MDM or by hand it cost a grand. No complaints. Today the car threw a CEL and I was on my way to an appointment. A quick read of my gauges said all is well. Car seemed fine and my stop was 20 mi away. I had my meeting, and an hour and a half later I start the car and HUGE cloud of smoke billowed out the back. Car smelled like paint all of a sudden but it went away after 3-4 miles. I watched all my gauges like a hawk. When I got home I hooked up the Durametric and read and reset my codes. The only one that I noted was PAS 8004 Terminal 50, which I've had previously. Hot day here in TX. I can see a liquid (condensate) leaking on my garage floor from the center front area and behind the drivers front tire, and I have a previous thread going where Durametric showed a Bank 2 catalytic fault, plus this same watery AC whatever.
Methinks with 105,000 mi maybe the down stream 02s are fried. WTF on that puff of smoke? I did drive the car how it should be driven last night, for about 12-15 mi. Hard acceleration and feeling the shift and pedals after the car finally came home.

Yahweh is telling me to go hurry and buy a 991.14S.
I bet it's the gd AOS.
I really wanted to replace the suspension this month.

Time for nastier cats I guess as the system is Borla but stock cats and headers. Or save a down payment for a 991 by driving this.

My sole complaint is the damn plywood sounding sunroof liner rattling like a ****. And the passenger seat.

Op, you've got to calm down. first, the cars occasionally puff smoke. Just continue to use the car, monitor vitals and oil burning. also do the filler cap test to check aos condition.
Use your durametric to read what the 02 sensors are telling you

AOS membrane.....nothing from Durametric.
Smoking like a mother****er and no temp spike. Smoking while accelerating now.

Oil filler damn near impossible to budge.

If the 02 sensors go then extra fuel can be dumped into the cats ruining them. I've had that happen before. The catalyst in them can actually break up and clog things up. So if his O2 sensors went bad first, then the cats could be gone now too.

I removed the headliner chasing this and can not find anything loose or out of alignment... drove me nuts.
If this describes your issue, then try this.....
1 - Pop up the sunroof
2 - Put three small strips of thick rubber tape on the underside of the metal panel but on top of the three rubber stops attached to the liner.
To do this, pop the roof up, get out and look at the upped trailing edge of the panel. You will see a gap between the metal outer panel and inner liner. You can put your fingers in there and push down on the liner panel. It is spring loaded to put pressure upward. When you push the liner down, you will see the three rubber bumpers.... put the tape on the metal thus increasing the pressure between the plates.
It is a really odd system. Notice that when you open the roof by sliding back (not popping up), for the very first movement, the outer metal panel depresses but the liner does not move.... it squishes the rubber stops. I believe this squishing, over time, allows the rubber to retreat a bit thus allowing vibration between the two. I just did this last week and reduced this noise considerably... I want to add one more layer to increase thickness. I am not 100% sure I addressed the cause but I definitely lessened the sound with this method. I haven't reported it yet here as I want to be sure what I did was both correct and didn't hurt anything.
Give it a try and report back.... maybe start a new thread. I will start one in a few weeks when I am sure I found the problem.
If these were not your symptoms....... never mind.
