For the garage with the lifts what is your ceiling height?

Default Do not go with too much confetti.

You will never be able to find small screws/bolts dropped on the floor.

Unfortunately in my garage, every time I drop a bolt/screw it will bounce/hop/ricochet and end up exactly under my car in the exact center.

So quick follow up advice.
Floor came out great, but all of a sudden last week there was a huge chip in the paint all the way down to the cement. He came out and patched it but it looks awful. Also the patch area epoxy seems to have a matte finish whereas the rest of the floor is quite nice and shiny. I've asked him what can be done but thought some of you might have some advice on what I should be asking him to do.
Research tells me it's "hot tire pickup" since it's right where the back wheel sits when I park in there.
Take a look at the pic and please share your thoughts. Area is about 3 inches by 1 inch, but it's all I can notice now......

Default Epoxy Failure

Could be hot tire lift. What method did they use to prep your floor?

Blassy, how many days did the coating cure?

How old is the slab?

How did they prep the slab?

Hoping you have a better experience. I have had several epoxy floors. Granted they were all DIY so that might be my issue.

No matter how I prepped, cured or sealed I had tire pick up over time. Every spring I just scrapped and patched. The color discoloration from the patch will blend in once you get a few and the floor gets dirty.

My advise, learn how to patch yourself so you can keep it nice.

It's all in the prep. Hard for a DIY weekend warrior to get that part right. The pros grind off a thin layer of the slab. Being a catalytic product, you also have to get the product down fast because the pot life is short.

OP, based on your pic, it looks like they epoxied over a broomed concrete surface. I have seen lots of epoxy floors put down in new houses and they are always put down on smooth, floated concrete. I haven't ever seen epoxy with flakes put down on top of a rough surface like your concrete floor.

Is this normal? I would have thought that they would go over the surface with a grinder to smooth it prior to application. I'm not an expert--so please take this as a question, not a condemnation.
