Default GROUP BUY - Function First Transmission Mount Inserts

UPDATE: With 29 orders in hand (13 soft, 13 sport and 3 track hardness), and the pace of new orders slowing, Luka will now be taking over further orders directly at Function First, and will continue to honour the Group Buy discount arranged of 20% until September 15. You may reach him for this offer at sales@function-first.com Best wishes to all participants, thank you for your clear communications, and I look forward to the upcoming commentary on results. Regards, Doug

OP: Luka at Function First has agreed to allow me to organize a group buy for their transmission mount inserts. This will apply to any model and hardness they have available (964 through 991). The discount level will be 10% for five participants and 20% for ten or more, with an opening until September 15. The regular price is $130US.

PMs should be directed to me including email address, model details and insert hardness selection. I'll be passing these along to Luka at certain intervals in the order received, and he will be directly invoicing and arranging for shipping which will start as soon as the top discount level is reached or September 15 at the latest if we get at least five but less than ten participants.

I can't answer any technical questions and refer you to their site for more information: http://www.function-first.com or to enquire further. Personally I'm down for the soft (orange) insert.

Regards, Doug

If you want to firm up the ride and make it more engaging... This is a cheap easy upgrade that takes the slop out of the stock configuration. Add with some firmer motor mounts while you're at it.

Good idea, any motor mounts you recommend?

Update -at 7 in less than 24 hours so reasonable to expect we will reach the 20% discount. I'm checking with Luka on shipping costs so you have the full picture.

At 8, and given the pace Luka will go straight to the 20% discount. Shipping will be:
USA $8.50
Canada $11.50
Intl 15.50
I'll be forwarding the initial set of purchasers later today, and you can expect to hear from him directly thereafter.

This is one of the best DIY's out there in terms of cost, effort & results imho!
I did this 3 months ago and am 100% satisfied.

Hers's the link to my DIY:

I'll join in but I cant decide which stiffness to get: Yellow or Black?... Before my 997 I had an '86 911 and I've always missed the feedback I got from that car. It shaked and vibrated like a Harley and I barely ever needed to look at the tach because I could feel what rpm I was at. The 997 is numb. I can't hardly tell the car is running when idling. I can't feel the engine as I'm letting the clutch out to take off from a stop and I miss that. I dont however want rattles all over the car and while sitting at a light I dont want to be trying to track down what's rattling and making noise. So would the Black inserts be going too far? Would the Yellows be the better choice? Or should I go all the way with the Blacks? I do the occasional autoX too...

I scored a set of Wevos from a fellow RL'r which are awesome. Some like the rennline mounts which are similar to the Wevos but are adjustable. The function first ones are based off of the OE housing and are available in a few different stiffness as well.

Based on your description above I assume you are running the stock exhaust if you can hardly tell the car is running when idling.

Unless you plan to install a louder exhaust and if you don't want to introduce additional noise/rattles into the cabin, I would say black is going to be too much.
I would say go with yellow and get a louder exhaust Or just stick with orange to be on the safe side.

Great idea, Doug! Thanks for coordinating the group buy.

I'm going with the yellow sport version...
