Default Hi guys, I just got a first Porsche and have a question

Hi guys,

I just got a 997 2005.
I will post a picture soon.

Anyway, I have 2 problems and want to ask you guys.

1. passenger seat doesn't move to very front. It just move back and front like half and it stop. Does anyone knows what is a problem and how I can fix it?

2. Passanger door, when I open it window lower like 1/4" and when I close it, it goes up. but sometimes it doesn't do this. So I can't close the door(because window doesn't go down 1/4")
However, with a window switch, it moves very well up and down without any problem.

Anyway, than you for advance and good night. =)

I have the same issue... I have yet to address it though. When you do (or if I do it first) let's post up any info that we have.

Window. Its a common failure where the inner door handle is not making proper contact with the micro switch. Good news its cheap and you can do the fix yourself by replacing a part behind the inner door handle. Must remove door card. Problem could be micro switch, try cleaning all contacts while the door card is out.

Passenger seat. I would start by removing the seat from car and cleaning, re greasing the tracks. Also cheap and easy. Once the seat is unbolted, leave the connectors connected and see if you get full travel. Others have reported foreign objects hidden under the seats preventing travel.

Good luck.....not big problems at all.

You don't have to but it's a prudent thing to do. Also keep the key fob at least 10 feet away from the car while doing this.....otherwise you will get the airbag light lit.

No you don't have to disconnect the battery. But you do have to get four new bolts for each seat as they are one-time use only.

I would agree only if the electrical connectors were not touched.

I did a microswitch on my 2009 C2S. Very fiddly and you need slender hands... but very DIY. See here:

Disconnect the battery before both procedures.

For your window drop issue when closing the door, there are 4 microswitches that manage this. See if you can isolate the issue to the inside door handle or outside door handle. When inside the car, if you pull the door release handle, does the window drop? If so, the little plastic pin molded into the back of the silver handle you're pulling is making contact with that microswitch in the door. Now close that door, does the window go back up when it's closed? If it did, that switch is working correctly. If it didn't go around to the passenger door and open it - lean inside and push on the handle you use to open the driver's door. If the window then goes up, you need a new door handle as the plastic pin has worn down to where it's not always pressing the microswitch.

If the inner handle and microswitch check out with the above, then check the outside handle and switches. If the door was closed and the window was all the way up, lift the outside handle. Does the window drop? If not, it's the microswitch for the outside handle that's the problem and that is buried inside the door. The other test you can do is open the door. If the window drops, but when you close it won't go back up, then it could be the microswitch that's part of the latch assembly on the edge of the door. With the door open, manually close the latch and see if the window goes up. This may help you isolate the problem to the switch on the outside handle or the switch on the latch. Don't forget to release the latch using one of the handles before trying to close the door.

Good luck.

Here is an update.

I replaced the micro switch but it does same thing.
Sometimes it works some times it doesn't.

I don't know what is a problem.
What do you guys think?

There is a new problem after I replaced the micro switch.
Drive side window goes down but when I close the door, window doesn't goes up.
I never had this problem but after passenger side micro switch replace, I have this problem.

What do you guys think?

Possibly needs a reset?
I used to have to do it in my audi quite frequently.
maybe search the forum for the exact procdure but I had to
Close the window and hold the switch up for a couple of seconds, see if that does anything.
