The 4S is the same width as a turbo..........and that is a good thing. I was looking for a 2S when a 4S popped up and it was perfect. I now know I would have had a little buyers remorse as the extra width really completes this car. .1 Vs. .2, for me I didnt see the value in the asking prices.

The 4s vs the 2s debate will rage forever. There are differences so drive both if you can. For me it's a 4s because I want the wide body. You can only get it in a 4, GTS or a turbo. Excluding the GT3 and GT2 of course.

Hi there! From my experience I would personally and professionally recommend a .2 car, you can still find a CPO which is a nice bonus. The cars have the facelift, along with the creature comforts on the inside. If maintenance is no issue go 4s, rule of thumb is always more moving parts increases greater chance of issues. I am by no means implying a 4s is any less reliable but cv boots, diffs, etc. I daily drive my 997.2 with the sport chrono package and enjoy it much. You can't go wrong with a PDK either in my opinion. If you have any questions or need ppi advice feel free to PM me. Good luck!

Not to nitpick but the 997 GT3 is not wide body. Common misconception.

Main thing is required options. I made the list and didn't deviate except on color. I highly recommend putting sport chrono and pdls on list. Many out there don't have both and I wouldn't have car without them. Pushing sport button is lust. You drive any car with adaptive lights and you never go back. Decided early wanted 997.2 cause of minor updates I really really liked. Love the wide body, but much prefer 2S due to driving characteristics. Can move the 2, 4 sticks. if keeping the car for long, long time then potential maintenance on 4 is worth thinking about, but reality is probably non issue. Don't worry 2s is faster, the difference makes no impact on real world driving. Just decide and have no buyers remorse. If undecided don't do it, hold firm till find the one that meets your criteria.
Regardless of what you decide you'll be in heaven every time you get in and turn the key.

LOL. At least twice per day, apparently.

I was driving home from a PCA social, it had started to cool off (by Texas standards, 90 F @ 10 PM), so I rolled the windows down, pushed back the sunroof, and enjoyed the drive home, wind in my hair. It was great. Refreshing after a long week at work. Indeed, why did I not buy one of these years ago?!?

Had a 2S and now own a 4S. Love the 4S….drove in snow and no contest which was better.

The aesthetics (wide body) is awesome as well. If I had the chance to own either in the trim I needed I'd go 4S for sure….but that's just me!

Good Luck!

+1 on 4S

Wider rear, more planted feel when driving. It's less to see on the road compare to 2WD.

I don't really mind for maintenance cost in the long term since I love the way it looks now and for a long time. In my opinion.

I was searching for a C2S for a long time. Saw lots of cars. Drove 996,997,991.
As soon as I saw my C4S I was sold. The wide hips and aero kit was a deal maker.

4S drivability is excellent. I don't notice much understeer. As compare to my 13WRX..."lookout!" Regardless of the situation...more gas is the solution.
My only downer is parking lot donuts are a bit lame with AWD. But seriously the 997... IMO, is the last true "drivers" car. The experience during spirited driving is very physical with a tremendous amount of feed back from the drivetrain and steering. I admit that is a biased opinion.

I do most of the maintenance myself so I'm saving for any extra cost associated with the 4x4 option.

Be sure to get an independent PPI from a reputable Porsche specialist, and negotiate the price that works for you.

Good luck with your search.

Simple Porsche 911 rule the more money the model the better the car..
They rank like this

Special models,
911 GT RS 4.0, speedster, and sport classic.

I actually think the 997.2 C2S 6spd manual with PSE is probably the purest 911 in terms of driving pleasure without entertaining the GT3.
