Please do follow up. I would be interested to know that the PSM would unsettle the car by creating your hopping sensation. I've not notice any indication that my PSM system has intervened either. This is interesting.

Do you think then it's a tire related event? My first impression was that something was not right somewhere and this hopping is not normal.

Just to be clear... or at least clearer...... I get what feels to be a back and forth wiggle and up and down wiggle. Not high frequency like judder... but as if the engine is loose and moving around independent of the car. .... that is why I thought it was the engine mounts or the sum of all the softer rubber bits.

If you haven't tracked a car like I used to in my 200 Boxster S, you may not even be aware of it as my Boxster never did this.

Again, I have new Porsche mounts and the car does pretty much the same thing... it did this with other tires including Contis, although most of my miles are on Michelins. I never thought it was tires... again the darn car moves around.

It just may be the electronics..... if power is being cut, I can see why the backend would come up and the car become a bit unsettled.

This weekend I am taking the car deep into central PA... lotsa good roads to test.

Peace

All of my track experience is in Carreras. My point of interest is whether Porsche's PSM would unsettle the car which seems counterintuitive. Look forward to your thoughts Bruce after this weekend. Have fun!

My vote is old hard tires that are spinning/hopping in conjunction with an open diff.

Yea, I still think its tires. PSM was off when I'm tracking so I know it wasn't that.

^^^ The PSM comment nailed it for me. I turned on sport. Less of that feeling. Turned off PSM altogether, 0 hopping but more sliding, so be ready!! ...but for Bruce it might have been something else.

I am new to the 911 experience and I am finding it very difficult to adapt to the handling. Corners above 80kmh I can feel the car wiggle, like the rear wants to escape. The front feels very light and floaty. On hard throttle on corner exit there is immense grip but light throttle or coasting mid medium speed corner she makes me nervous.

There's a road nearby with a downhill (slight) off camber left I can take pretty comfortably at 85kmh in my 12 yr ild bog stock saab wagon but my 997 makes me edgy at anything above that speed.

These new cars have a lot more wizardry but to start with, slow in fast out + smoooooth is a good starting point.

Either you are a 91 fan or not. The 911 can be very unstable on some hands and super stable on other hands. Which hands do you have?

If you are after a 'balanced' car get something else. And please do not make the 911 balanced. Wait... the 991 is more balanced already and I do not want it.
