I did the mounts as well, my idle really did not change all that much, and vibration is maybe 10% less, it was noticeable, but I can still put my hand on the passenger seat and feel strong vibrations.

Has anyone measure how much rubber sticks out on a new mount?

The only thing I would add to the prospective DIY-er is, after removal of the old mount, to have a second jack handy to provide some support along the engine bracket in order to gently lift the engine bracket back up and allow for easier threading of the 18 mm bolt onto the new mount. When I was using the jack to support the engine under the drain pan, once the 18 mm was remove, the engine carrier slipped below the level of the threads so I had to jack up the engine carrier a bit with a separate jack to facilitate threading of the 18 mm nut.

So far it seems like shifting is slightly improved. I still have vibrations at idle, guess that's just the character of the car (and those FF trans inserts). My drivers side exhaust tips are hanging lower than the passenger's side, so I will have to adjust the muffler brackets this weekend.
Has the price gone up a ton within the past year?

It looks like PP is about $160 each for the Coretco OEMs. Suncoast sells a pair (unspecified brand) for $415.

Looks like 130 each/260 for the pair from AutohausAZ, where I got it from. I think there was a sale going on when I bought them a few months ago.

It’s true. Noticed this too and thought i was crazy when i changed the engine mounts on my 996. Or I’m completely crazy, but I’m confident it wasnt’s A placebo effect.

I installed the Rein engine mounts from RennPart.com. They were identical to the originals except the price. $139.95 for a pair plus shipping. https://rennpart.com/product/engine-...89-12-carrera/

Anyone know if the 997 4S and regular S models share the same part number?

Thanks

I was led to this decision because of the following reasons.

1. Excessive vibration, I could visually see the passenger seat vibrating at idle.
2. Throttle response at low speeds from a stop would feel slightly sluggish or delayed.
3. Exhaust tips appeared to hang lower than it should especially when compared to old photos.

I decided to purchase the Corteco engine mounts (997-375-049-08) from RMEuropean.com total cost was $253.19 with shipping. From all the research I gathered, these are the same OEM suppliers that provide the mounts to Porsche. If you look at the photos attached, the old mounts have developed a permanent elongation. This elongation was actually worse when installed. After installing the new mounts, I could tell the difference immediately. I drive my 911 every day and even a subtle change I think I would notice. I know some people on this forum are skeptical about replacing the engine mounts and that the benefits would go unnoticed but this really depends on how often you drive your 911. I think that someone that drives their 911 every single day would notice the improvements much more than someone that didn’t. The new engine mounts fixed the following issues for me.

1. Startup takes less time, I wasn’t expecting this improvement.
2. Vibration and cabin noise is reduced at idle.
3. Exhaust tips appear to hang much better in relations to the valance.
4. Throttle response is definitely improved in low and high speeds.
I have a 2005 911 with 18K so do you recommend it ?

Your car has only 18k miles, but those mounts have been supporting that engine for over 15 years now.

Why would you not replace them?

I’m going to replace mine on a 2011 with 56k miles.

I just replaced mine on my 2011 997.2 with 29K miles, only due to age. The weren't "shot", but for sure they were tired from holding the engine up for the past decade. I replaced them with FF mounts, and love the result - a bit more grumble at 3000-3800 rpm, better sound, better shifting, and much tighter around the turns. Well worth it.
