NO SIGN OF BORE SCORING
No sign of Bore Scoring ... Just check my 2006 977.1 for sign of bore scoring with 61000 miles . Purchase used without having a Bore Scoping inspection I didn't know 977 having a issue with bore scoring till i was browsing 997 Forum.. Car was driven So California warm climate . Only issue was if i didn't drive for few weeks or sometimes more than month it will make lifter noise when i start up and eventually it will go away once it get little warm. This is normal for car sitting in the Garage for long time of period .
No sign of tailpipe more sooty than the other , oil consumption used 3/4 quarts around 3000 miles of driving .

If anyone is interested in a close to 100k miles car that needs the engine done, I know someone selling a 2005 S for VERY cheap. It has piston slap and burns oil, but he's still driving it. He's interested in just walking away from the repair. The car is in great shape otherwise..

76,000 miles. Slight smoke left side exhaust and a little more sooty. UK car all its life. 98 octane fuel all time I have had it (20,000 miles) Full rebuild at Hartech £12,000 for rebuild plus quite a few “whilst you’re there” items! £15,200 but hopefully now should be relatively bomb proof.

997.1 C4S, 53K Km, no scoring!
Question, is this issue of coating rubbing off (both on 997.1 and 997.2) applicable to GT3 engines too? or they're made out of something different?

Hi I am a new user.
05 C2S 3.8 70k miles on. IMS was already done with a solid bearing getting oil from the oil filter.
Bought it first week of this year and it start ticking 1k miles later. Drove another 500 miles and pulled the motor. #4 was badly and 6 just one deep line in. Waiting now on the re-sleeve from L&N with an upgrade to a 4.0.
Im looking for a workshop manual with all the engine info if anyone can help point me in the right direction please.
Thanks
Phillip
