Alan in Houston made a comment that we old timers are jaded. Old in that we have owned P-cars for many years, or just older in age and owned many cars.

Are we cranky? Do we see things differently? Why?

I owned two P-cars for 16 years total and am in my mid 50s. I guess that makes me old.

My wife noticed that I have a pained look on my face in most pics, except those with her, the dog or in the Porsche. I'd have never thought I would be in a position to own such a nice car all those years ago growing up in Brooklyn with very little.

My typical feeling when I'm behind the wheel is one of gratitude, and a tinge of sadness - it'd be nice if I could give my dad a ride in my Porsche.

So, cranky? Yes! Cranky in the Porsche? Never!

Yes, this old Porsche owner is cranky, especially as it concerns my 997. It is twice the car of the '84 Targa it replaced, but it is 1/2 the fun. It's also disconcerting as I drive past a large window and see my reflection. I think, "what is an old guy doing in THAT car?"

No, I would say that we're not cranky! It's just part of the eccentricity and charm of getting old gracefully.

BTW and as a matter of fact, today I'm celebrating my 68th birthday!

My wife says a "a resounding yes!". I'll be the first to admit that I certainly can be cranky at time.

Happy Birthday! I turned 68 last October……it's all about getting old gracefully and I really don't mind it at all. So cranky….NO!

Just today I decided to go for a pastry and an espresso at an Italian store in Bonita beach and the Manager flirted with me outrageously (and it had to be outrageous for me to even notice it!).

She mentioned she noticed my blue Porsche as well and told me she was a "car girl" and gave me her card with her cell # on it.

She was kind of flat chested so I decided not to tell her I was a "boob guy". Who knows…maybe I'll try the other side of the coin!
