How many plan to eventually get into a 991?

I would in a heartbeat, if my C4S was an unmodified one. 991 is a great daily, it's comfortable, it's more capable, better chassis, feels faster on the track, better technology, better PCM. I'm into modern technology, no way on the 993 or 964. I saw a blue 991 with an aerokit, CF diffuser, and 6 speed manual at a local PCA social. *drool* But of course, I've spend enough to make my C4S the way I like it so it's hard to let go. Otherwise I would have been in a 991 a couple of years ago.

I didn't think I would say this but the 991 is becoming more appealing. The more I read 991 reviews and having actually test driven a 991.2 , my opinion has changed. It's definitely a better DD than the 997 and still retains much of the character of the earlier cars. I wouldn't sell my current 997 for a 991 but adding one as a DD is a distinct possibility. I'll wait a few years to give the 991s some depreciation and this will also give me some time to obsess about it.

I would never say never but I am pretty damn happy with my car right now. I recently came from an air cooled so I've got that experience under my belt. I also think the 997's (especially the .1's) are just gorgeous looking and have more sensuous lines than the 991. To me the 991 looks like a 991 was put under an industrial press and squished down a few inches and the rear end is too angular and sharp. I've no doubt it is a superior performer to my car but I'm not even close to the skill level where I am approaching the limits of the 997.
Consider me a very happy 997 owner!

Was about to upgrade to a 997.2S / GTS from my 997.1 but decided to hold-off and enjoy the 997 for a few more years. I would consider the 991.2 (Used only) for the torque band though am apprehensive about the turbo.

out of all the newer cars coming out with the new tech, Electric steering, turbos, added, size and weight, Porsche has seemed to do it better than anyone, but I still think there are "sacrifices" in driver engagement as the product evolves. Also more technology (which I don't care about). I think the dimensions of the 997 are perfect. That being said, my bro just got a nice CPO 991.1 PDK. My dad drove it (we got the car bug and 911 bug from my dad) and he immediately went on the search. For him, at about 70 yo, I think he thought that all 911s were extremely raw, so it opened a market that an average 70 yo could drive a 991 pdk fairly comfortably. He has been (and will keep) his SL55, but he loves the 911 "feel" so much more.
I am in love with the 911R. Of course this is a car that they are making to be more of a "drivers car". Too bad ONLY 918 owners will own them. Ironic, since the cars are polar opposites, but whatever.

I tend to agree with you. Stranger things have happened though and sometimes the values are driven hard by enthusiast perceptions. If there is substantial appreciation it will probably be quite far down the road.

It is interesting to see that even Porsche admits that the sales of Carrera 991 have dropped recently. The Panorama magazine has all the details with numbers and ratios, but if it was not for the Macan, Porsche would be loosing market shares. The current and the new 991 are not selling that well.

I believe these sales are being taken up by some of the sportier coupes out there now. For many people, it's harder to justify buying a $100k+ sports car when you can get a 5.0 Mustang with more horsepower for $30k. There are plenty of similar options out there now that didn't exist several years ago.
No plans to get a 991 here.
