Default Dome light and footwell lights stay on after battery change

battery died and I replaced with a new H7 / 94R battery. Now the dome lights and footwell lights stay on all the time unless you turn off the switch. Stay on all the time if you leave in the middle position. Anyone have this issue before after changing the battery?

No real help here, but if nothing else changed, I would check the polarity of the battery before doing anything else.

Do the interior lights never shut off or take longer than before to shut off? I bet the latter. There is a time setting on the PCM to set that time and probably what happened was those settings were changed due the battery disconnect.

the lights don't seem to shut off at all when the switch in the middle position (auto). You close the door and the lights stay on. You turn the car off and lock it, the lights stay on. You have to move the switch all the way to the off position.

I saw a setting for a time period. What should it be set at?

Your choice... On the 997.2 the [interior light] Fade Out Time can be adjusted with arrow key controls - just pick a number of seconds...

Also... when you lock the vehicle (with the fob) the lights should turn off without delay.

CORRECTION: Fade Out Time controls external lights NOT Dome Lights. I see Dome lights turning off after a lengthy time, on the order of a couple of minutes. They will turn off immediately when the car is locked/alarmed.

i tried disconnecting the battery for 10 mins and no improvement. Saw another post on turning the key clockwise in the lock and holding it there. Neither worked. Any other ideas?

Some things need "resetting" after the battery goes dead or needs changing.
It's a weird Porsche thing.
For some people their airbag light stays on.
Others ... their seat warmer dont work.

Maybe this is another symptom of the same issue.
Apparently Porsche resets various modules ... and things start to work again.

search the forum for
footwell lights
More than a few people with your issue.

Hey gang...
I know this is a bit old, but I am having the exact issue after disconnecting my battery for a bit. Did anyone ever sort out what will fix the issue with the dome light and footwell lights not shutting off when in the auto position?

Thanks.

You probably need to reset some modules using a Durametric cable. It is rare, but it can happen after a battery change.
The "beauty" of electronics and over-engineering....

I am having this issue after replacing the battery this afternoon. Tried iCarSoft to reset any codes but issue persists. Any recommendations??
