Is this a bad idea? Used 2008 Porsche 911 Convertible Carrera with 6k miles?
Hi, I'm new to the forum and am in search of a 911. I've driven quite a few with 2006 and older 996 models and have found most to be "ridden hard and put away wet."
I found this, but was concerned that with the mileage so low I may be in for a load of issues.
Thoughts?

Just bought a 2009 Carrera 4 Cab with CPO warranty with 5K miles for a little more than that.
It looks like a Porsche dealer. First call in the AM should be to see if they can certify it, and if not why not.

Agreed. It's a good price for a car with full leather imo. I'd tell them you'll take it if they certify it for that price. See what they say.

Car is in Monterrey, registered in Alaska but always serviced in the Bay Area. Nice way to avoid CA tax and registration. First offered for sale in June 2008 but first titled Jan 2010. Either date is still within Porsche's 8 year maximum age to CPO. Make sure you don't overpay for the low mileage. If you're going to drive it a lot and sell in about three years, think of resale value of 2008 Carrera cab with 36k miles on it.

thanks @daddyscar, I just received this response from the dealer "This particular vehicle is not Porsche certified as the year does not dictate such."
I think it may be snowing in Monterey
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that it was better to have a Porsche with miles relative to age versus a low mileage car. The idea being that there will be age related issues because the car hasn't been driven.
I am completely new to Porsches and usually buy cars that are either new or a few years old.

Even with the low miles, I'd say $50k is high for a base model cab that doesn't have a lot of options - no PSE, base seats, base brakes. If that car had regular mileage on it today of 40-60k, I think it would be in the low $30s. If you're happy with the configuration and equipment, with that low a mileage, it needs to be CPO'd as these cars don't do that well sitting for long periods - RMS leaks, brake fluid needs to be flushed every 2-3 years (so that should have been done 3 times by now and I'd be surprised if it's been done once), etc. If you can buy it CPO'd for mid-$40s I think you'll be happy. The full leather is great, as is Bose, and it looks like it has the sport steering wheel which feels much nicer than the thinner stock one.

Agree with others, a little overpriced and I would want a CPO or maybe a fidelity warranty. If you can get it for mid $40s with a 5 year fidelity warranty, it should be a decent deal. Then if you sell it in the next 5 years to a private party you can transfer the warranty. Just a thought.
