By the way, wiper blades themselves are only $50...but a windshield replacement will run about $1300. Mine was damaged after turning on wipers when it rained a week after I bought it. The blades were stuck to glass and rubber was completely hardened; yet they looked perfectly new and normal. Yes, wiper blades are probably the last thing someone would worry about when buying a Porsche...Exactly why i share this experience. Both wipers popped off the glass with a Loud bang cracking the glass, and then they screeched across the windshield leaving serious scratches before being ripped off their hindges. LOL, It was Quite a dramatic event. A fiery death isn't likely unless it happens while driving at full speed in the rain..

This car has been for sale for a LONG time now. about 6 months ago I googled the vin # and found some postings on 6speedonline where someone was asking about the car. I don't remember exactly what it said but a lot of people brought up some questionable things on the car and seller I think. Anyway, the majority of the posts were not very positive. Who knows, you could take the audio out and get it all put back together with oem and it might be a great car. I would definitely want a very good PPI done for sure.

If my '11 GTS with 12k miles and a $129k msrp is only worth mid to low $60's....I'll be keeping it until it turns to dust! I bet I could get more from a pp sale or even a dealership trade.

Last week, I was offered $66k for my 2012 997 GTS (116k msrp) with 30k miles & cpo to trade for a $122k CPO 2011 GT3 with 9k miles.

I agree. My 997S at 109k MSRP (PCCB etc.) is now in the 35k range. I would NEVER take 35k over owning this car. I think 997's as a whole are entirely undervalued - it's a great used car buy - which is why i'm going to ****** up another one.

Agree, especially the 997.2 cars that have dipped under 50% original msrp.

I got my GTS as a four year lease return with 45k miles for right about 50% of MSRP. The miles have a big (negative) impact on the value. But I certainly feel great about the car for that price!

I suspect some of us have a great deal of extra money, and another Porsche is just a fun way to get around for a few years with a write-off. And on the demand side, I'm not sure the >$60k used sports car market is a large one, so that also hurts the resale.

I was cross shopping a used 997S against either a new BMW M4 or two cars, a 987S plus a small Audi/BMW. Those other options can be quite compelling depending on needs and priorities.

Yah buying used definitely takes the "sting" out of that depreciation hit. I picked mine up back in 2009 with only 10,038 miles for $51,000 including tax (recession). It actually held at that value and even higher for a solid 4 years. Now that i'm seeing those beautiful 997.2's hovering in the low 50's, time to add that 2nd Porsche.

The 997 is my favorite 911 series ever made - this might work very well for me moving ahead. Prices just keep going down. To me it's the modern 993.

The VIN # does match, so it must be the same car. And I agree, very good PPI must be done. But if it all checks out, would be a great price.

You are spot on about the depreciation hit - but the Dismal Science has something important to say about this too. First assume that we are all rational spenders (not that we spend on "rational" things but somehow, consciously or unconsciously, we think about our financial decisions). This being the case, some rational spenders will consider the depreciation hit the value of buying a new car - other rational spenders place little or no value on owning a new car and are unwilling to "pay" for that luxury by taking a depreciation hit. Neither rational decision is wrong.
