Sanity check for newly installed LED tail lights
Recently purchased a new set of LED tail lights from DelRayCustoms and I watched all of their instructional videos on how to install the wiring harness. With the DelRayCustom LED tail lights, the rear fog bulb is reused.
Can someone please confirm the rear fog light bulb is expected to be lit when the headlights are on (rear fog light is not on)? Here's how my tails are currently lit:
In addition, DelReyCustoms provided red fog bulbs, I'm not sure if these were intended to be installed to prevent the original fog bulbs looking like reverse lights when lit??? Here's what they look like installed:
DelRey has always provided a response within 24 hours, but I'm impatiently hoping someone here can confirm whether the fog bulb is intended to be on during normal headlight operation.
Cheers.

I have similar LED tail lights on my 997, although not from DelRey Customs..
Yes, the "fog lights" do light up when the headlights are on.
I too received red bulbs with mine, but haven't used them.
I've just let the clear lights be, as the reverse lights are much brighter and whiter.

You have to put a small piece of electrical tape on one of the bulb terminals (for rear fog only). If it doesn't work the first time, rotate the bulb to alternate how the contacts line up in the socket.
There are pictures of how to do it on 6speed and probably here as well

Appearance preferences aside, both the DRC and Rottec lights had the brake light "issue" while the Dectane lights did not. There were multiple threads and posts regarding the red bulb and taping the contacts when the lights first appeared a couple of years ago. Most of the posts involved Rottec. As mentioned, other than looks, the major difference between the lights is that DRC and Rottec used the existing wire harness with bulb sockets while Dectane did not - Dectane just plugged into the power connection.

The rear fog light (on the left side only) lights up when you twist the light switch all the way to the right. The bulb does not light up at the first two positions of the light switch.

here's a quick video to help with taping off a part of the red bulb included with the tail lights

The rear fog light bulb should only come on in the light that's on the driver's side to be the way Porsche intended them to work. The rear fog light bulb is controlled by the main rotary light switch and once the switch is turned to the parking light or headlight position, if pulled out one click, that's for the front fog lights and if pulled out a 2nd click, that's for the front and rear fog lights, but only the rear left light should illuminate on a US car. The reason both rear lights have receptacle for the bulb is that the same lights are used on UK cars and for them the right rear bulb illuminates. I guess you can fix it by taping off the bulb contact, but that seems to me like they weren't designed properly or aren't using a correct bulb that should only have 1 contact and not two.
As long as you're happy with the way they're working now, I guess it's all good.
