2012 997.2 GTS vs C2S

The GTS is really nice, but you can get a 997.2 C2S/C4S for low 50's or even high $40's. Is the GTS worth $20k more than a nice 2009/2010 C2S/C4S? For primarily a daily driving car, which it sounds like OP is looking for, I'm not sure just how much of a difference the GTS is going to make. Visually, I think the GTS is damn sexy, but value wise at the moment, I don't see it being the best of long term purchases.
All the 997 cars (except for perhaps the Turbos) are going to get down to $30's at some point in the future. In 8 years from now a well cared for C4S might fetch $33k, is an equal quality GTS going to be worth $53k at that time? Most definitely not.
Knowing that they're all headed south price wise, my vote would be to buy the nicest C2S/C4S you can find for the lowest price you can get. Guaranteed you'll enjoy pretty much any 997 you buy so grab the best value you can.

C2 = $78k
C2S +10k
C4 same a C2S
C4S +10k over 2S
GTS +10k over 4S
4GTS +10k over GTS
plus options.
Therefore I believe the 4GTS with no opitons is worth $20k more than the 4S without any options.
Maybe someone has a price guide from 2012 that they would like to post to confirm price differences.
Cheers

I believe in 2011-2012 the base price difference between models looked something like this:
C2 = $78k
C2S +10k
C4 same a C2S
C4S +10k over 2S
GTS +10k over 4S
4GTS +10k over GTS
plus options.

Some may go as far as to suggest that it's the other way around, that a GTS deserves a premium over the 4GTS since it's the only rear wheel drive 997 WB except for the GT3RS.

I have a GTS that I tried selling before the new year to avoid having to pay personal property tax in 2016, and buy the extended warranty since the factory warranty was done at the beginning of January. I have now done both, and I was planning on keeping it for a while now and maybe adding a Sharkwerk's bypass and a Getty Ducktail... but selling it would allow me get something else on my long list of "cars to own before i die."
PM me if you want to chat on it.

OP - go for the GTS. IMO, it is the best of the 997 range (excluding GT3 variants).

I'm not convinced that the 4GTS commands the same premium over a GTS as the C4S over a C2S. Why? Because going by what people post here, most who buy a C4S instead of a C2S do it to get the wide body, not because they need or want 4wd. The GTS already has the wide body so the only reason to get a 4GTS instead of a GTS is to get 4wd.

Carrera 4 GTS
I picked up a cpo C4 GTS a few weeks ago (slathered in options) and consider it to be the best of all worlds.
Given the wet climate you live in, the 4 wheel drive will provide an envelope of safety that is a real world benefit.
For me, it took 6 months to find the right car. When contemplating your desire to own the car for 8+ years, I think you should find and buy exactly what you want.

Hello, new member, first post or reply. I've been trying to see if my question has already been discussed. I believe this thread is close.
We have 2011 911 C2 S white/black, with 37k miles. We love it but would like to move up if a good car comes up. The option has come up to buy a 2012 C4 GTS black/black with 2K miles. We would need to sell the 2011 to buy the 2012.
We love the white, but this seems a nice upgrade. Any thoughts on why or why not switch cars?
No plans on tracking it.
Thanks!

I would say the GTS is the best of the 9A1 engine Carreras.
The ultimate 997 is the GT3RS 4.0.
The GTS is a great car and will command a premium over the other 997's. If you don't want to pay the extra for the GTS, get the 4S. Still a great car. Good luck with your search.
