My new Targa, and a few questions
Hi guys,
Here is a pic of the 2007 Targa 4s that I bought a few weeks ago. I love the car so far, and have already purchased a set of Sport Classics and springs that will go on the car in the spring. Windows are getting light tint tomorrow.
The only issue I have found so far is that the targa top does make some "creaking" or "squeaking" when I go over bumps. Not sure if anyone has found a fix for this, or if its something you have to live with because it is what it is.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

I think you need to "grease" up the seals so they don't creak. Wurth sell some sort of rubber care thing, I have bottle but don't remember what else its called. Gummiphlege or something in the BMW world.
But yeah, creaks/squeaks are a common complaint with the Targa. I like Targa's.

Yeah, its bitterly cold here right now, and has been since I got the car last week, so no other experience with it. I have had many convertibles and coupes, so this is a new world for me. The clear view roof and feel in the cabin is well worth the creaking, but I figured I would ask.
The top seems to move slower and "stall" in the freezing temps this am when I showed my younger daughter how it works....assuming or hoping most of this has to do with the 15 degree temps.
The car came with some nice options:
GT Silver
Adaptive Sport Seats
Thicker wheel
Full Leather

All P-cars creek & squeak, it's the personality of the car. My 2007 C2 'talks' to me more in the winter than the summer except for the brakes that are more vocal in the summer.

Congrats on the Targa... some days I wish I would have held out for one.

We have the same car. My roof didn't creak or squeak until I brought it to the stealer ship for an unrelated issue and asked them to lubricate the roof mechanism while it was there. Upon leaving
I immediately noticed the sqeaking and returned to the shop. They wouldn't accept responsibility or make any attempt to correct. Go figure. I think it best if you just get used to it....or turn up the radio and drive faster!

I have the same car and the same noises. They have gotten a little more pronounced with more miles but it is just the character of the Targa. Porsche says there are no 2 911's that are alike - the Targa has even more individuality. I added Fister's for more exhaust note so that helps balance it out!

Nice car. I love Targa. Congrats. Have you fixed the roof creaks/noise? There is solution of it. Check out this thread.

sailkote is the lube people recommend for the top. Gummiphlege for door seals. Then I use Aerospace 303 for the other plastic parts (dash, trim, etc).
I did accidentally aerospace 303 my rubber floor mats. Holy smokes, getting in now is quite the experience as I have zero traction!
