Thinking about putting Cayman GT4 wheels on 997.1 S
So I've fallen in love with the Cayman GT4 wheels. I was in love with the 991 Carrera S III wheels (still am if I'm being honest) but the GT4 wheels are just too perfect. The specs are as follows:
Current 997 Lobster Forks:
F: 8" x 19" ET 57 235/35 tires
R: 11" x 19" ET67 295/30 tires
Cayman GT4 wheels:
F: 8.5" x 20" ET 61 245/35 tires
R: 11" x 20" ET 50 295/30 tires
I ran a compare online and it's telling me that the front wheels will have a ride height gain of 16mm. Not sure where that's coming from but seems like it would be an issue. I'm also worried about the 17mm offset difference in rear. I believe that would make the rims stick out too far. Definitely appreciate any feedback on if the forum thinks this swap would actually work.
BTW...I'm actually a new owner of this car. Got it in August and have loved every minute. First time 911 owner...prior car was an 03 Boxster S. Great to be back in the Porsche world!

The wheels are bigger and the tires are taller, hence the larger diameter and ride height increase.
If you go to bigger wheels, you need to run a lower profile tire to get to the same diameter.
That rear offset will be an issue. You could potentially get away with it, but it will likely look silly by sticking out past the fenders.
Fronts will need a spacer to avoid looking too tucked in.
Its doable I spose, but far from ideal.

I think it would look really good... But you will need to lower your car a bit because the gap with a 20" is going to look more visible.
Also you will need different tires to achieve the right height in profile ( lower profile) other wise it will really look off
If you want to see how it will look on the rear without having to purchase the wheels, get a 17mm spacer for your stock 67 offset wheels and it will give you the same rear look in terms of offset
I'm not an expert but my guess would be running a 5-7mm spacer on the front of the setup would even out the look... Maybe others will chime in here with their thoughts on that

As stated above, the tires are going to be your main issue. You will probably need to run a lower profile tire in order to keep the ride height similar to what you have. Also, might help with any rubbing issues.
i wouldn't worry too much about the offset. Most people end up putting 15mm+ spacers on their stock wheels anyway. Go and try on a 17mm spacer and see how u like it before you purchase the GT4 wheels.
Also, is your car lowered? That also makes a difference.

Here's a pic from a current For Sale ad. I'm thinking the Silver or Satin Platinum color would look awesome on my car. It's an Arctic Silver 997.1 S. Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to have to ponder this a little more before doing anything.

I'm in love with the 991 GT3 wheels and would love them on my 997TT, but I don't have the CL hubs and the 991 GT3 wheels are only CL. The GT4 wheels look similar, but are 5-lug, thus my interest. Do it! I really want to see it. I think it would look absolutely stunning!

meh. lower ride height with more tire trumps higher ride height with less tire. I can't say there is any reason at any point I would intentionally make my car ride higher, but then I'm more concerned with performance and less concerned with looks.

The 17mm increase on the rear will make the wheels perfectly flush with your fenders. That's what I have and it looks perfect.
Can't comment on the other issues.
Good luck

You'll need to change your tire wall height on the new wheels as I believe that if you use the oem tires your speedometer will be out
Also you'll need to change the TPMS from the 19" to the new 20" so the car will recognize them.
