New Owner
Hello everyone! My name is John and I am a proud new owner of a 2005 C2, Seal Gray, Black interior, 6 speed, Nav, Full Leather etc.
I have owned a 964 and (2) 993's, all great cars. I decided to try something different. After lots of research, and reading Rennlist... I decided on a 2005 with an early block number that allows the imsb to be changed without engine disassembly.
58,000 miles on the clock, all original except for the rear spoiler. The PO has the factory spoiler and I am contemplating changing it out. Getting new Michelin PSS's today as well. Back tires are hard as rocks, every bump is brutal.
Restored the headlights and foglights, ordered new clear side markers. Car came with a 6 month, 6000 mile warranty. Will do imsb shortly before warranty expires.
I am so impressed with this car. The quickness and responsiveness is outstanding, plus I like having an AC that will work in the summertime! One of the 993's was all black.....Hotter than hell.
Will post pics soon.

997 is definitely different! I hope there are no surprises when you do the IMSB--as you know there is no foolproof way to know which bearing you have until the transmission is dropped (unless you live near RED in Atlanta). What is the build date for your 997 shown on driver's door jamb?

Yes, early indeed! You certainly should expect to find the smaller IMSB. If you have a Raby certified shop nearby you should have the option of installing the "Solution" and be done with the ball bearing altogether. That's my plan if I have the smaller IMSB. My MY05 C2's build date is 3/05 so I won't know which bearing I have until clutch replacement time.

We have a shop here in San Antonio that does the LN. I'm going to be contacting them soon.
Got the new Michelins on today. What a difference!!!!! Had Bridgestones that were 4+ years old. Hard as rocks, some dry rotting as well.
Wish it had PSE. Oh well, there are exhaust options.

First Porsche was the 964. It was a C4 cab, great car, stuck to the road. Little numb, imho poor throttle response. Second one was a 993 coupe....awesome car. Modified, lowered, fabspeed exhaust, lightweight clutch, and so on. Great car, fast, handled great, black on black.....hotter than hell in the summer.
Last was a 993 cab, bought it for my wife to drive. She drove it once, told me, "Porsches are your thing". Mechanically a great car, kind of plain.
So far I am thrilled with the 997. Much more comfortable, ac works, but the best part...it's faster, handles great, throttle response is amazing. Point it, hit the gas and it goes. Only dislikes so far is the amount of plastic and the little rattles/squeaks. The 993's were more "solid" in their build quality. Even the doors closed better with the 993.
I liked the 993's, but right now the market is ridiculous, not saying the cars aren't worth it. I bought the 997 for a great price and I feel you get so much more car for the money.....if you are going to drive it to work, in the city etc., just easier to drive. However the 993 will always be my favorite just because of the air cooled engine, what a sound.
