Smog

Ok. Looking for some feedback here. Just took car to get smog. It failed due to a "memory" issue as told to me. Tester asked me is I leave my car park most of the time. I said yes. Not my DD.

It has been idle due to tranny repair. But for my car not to pass due to not being driven is just crazy!!

Anyone hear of this crap?

Was the battery disconnected or replaced recently?

RaidersR1 12-17-2015 12:24 AM

Nope. I keep it charged. Don't believe it was disconnected when the tranny was fixed.

first try to go on a good drive about 50 miles, if that doesn't work take to the dealer and have them reset it, I'm betting somebody disconnected the battery when they did the tranny.

Drive cycle probably isn't complete. Drive more. OBD-II reader will let you know when all your monitors are ready.

+1... I replaced my battery last year. Two wks later the car would not pass emission testing. Wasted a $100 trying to pass emissions at the dealer.

Just drive it for a week, long distance, cycle frequently, and do not reset with DM tool(if you have one). GL.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Will do just that.

"Wasted a $100 trying to pass emissions at the dealer."

Well that sucks, my dealer didn't charge me a dime (Circle Porsche)

You need to drive 3 cycles of 30 miles at a time before it resets after battery disconnect then you ll pass. Kind of a lot , so get out and drive ! This works for check engine light too if you want to pass and your Cel is on. Good luck !

I'm a driving. Not my DD to work as I need my F250 for my business. But I did drive yesterday a couple different stints. Will drive again Saturday and get recheck done.

You need to buy or borrow an obd II tester that will tell you if all the obd monitors have been set. that way you don't waste your time going back to the emissions center.

I have a Durameteic Cable. The tester said he would scan for free to make sure for me.
