Unless you find a total moron selling his car $10,000 too cheap, or one with a bunch of accidents, you may be looking for a long time.

A few days ago, one was posted (red) in Portland, base manual 997.2, with a couple of documented accidents, asking $37k. I bet you could get that one for $33-34k, and it would be a fair price.

I can't stand seeing a nice black color car with black wheels! Looks like a giant turd.

Looks like a pretty fair deal and the high miles for lower price is a good trade off for someone who really plans on driving it for a few years.

Another carmax car (FL): https://www.carmax.com/car/16930608 - 2012 GTS with LSD and LWB, 33k miles and only $58k.

Got excited, called them and tried to transfer it to my local store, said it's non-transferable so I just said put it on hold and I would fly to Florida on the weekend. After hanging up, clicked some more and saw it had a FRONT IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. I guess it was too good to be true.

A 997.2 for $34k is a basket case.

For $58K? Accident or no accident, that is a great deal assuming it was done correctly. The report says "no airbag deployed".

That is a good price at $68k: at $58,000, it is a steal for someone unless the car was heavily damaged.

I'm still mulling it over. The problem is I have to fly to Florida to check it out, but I wouldn't have a clue how to check out the repair to the car.

I also don't know how I can research the accident, extent of the damage, who repaired it or even how much it cost to repair.

Send the car for a reputable PPI and specifically ask them to dive deep into accident repair. That's the purpose of the PPI.

As someone posted earlier in this thread, you can't do a PPI on a Carmax car until you buy it. Of course they have the 7 day return period, but I would have to spend a few days in Florida to do this.

They posted another GTS, 15k miles, $68k but doesn't have Sports Chrono: https://www.carmax.com/car/17122094. I requested a transfer to my local carmax for this one since it will only cost me $149.

If you don't like the factory aerokit spoiler, there are plenty of people who do. I'm sure you could sell the aeorkit spoiler, buy a regular one and be money ahead.

...except that he lives in California, the car is in Florida, and although Carmax has a 7 day return policy, there are NO pre-purchase PPI's. He'd have to fly out, buy it, find a local shop to PPI it, then either return it or drive/ship it to California.

I know there have been a few nice cars scored from Carmax, but i've seen several that were really weak examples. Cosmetically poor, bad mods, bad bodywork, etc. Not impressed.

At least you can add the "sport plus" button and software on the 997 generation cars... Nobody likes the dash wart anyway. ~$1,100 plus labor to factor into your pricing.

That is true, but after looking at it some more, I'm not sure about the car. It looks like it was specced to be a gt car. It's the first time I've seen comfort seats on a GTS...
